"The Public Utilities Commission has advised us that a print- ed copy of the decision in gas case No. 7253, in which your Village is interested, would be mailed to each municipality interested, and emus that you reoeivrd it. The decision provided that it should not take effect unless accepted by the Public Service 0o. of Hothern Illinois within twenty days from date of se -rvioe of the order. The Secretary of the Commission now advises us that the acoeptance:of 'Was Public Servioe Company of Nothern I11. was received on April 27th. The decision speaks for itself, but might be briefly summed up as follows:- The Public Servioe Co. is given the right to reduce the quality of the gas but is required to furnish all lighting tips with mantle burners and is also required to reduce the rate to be charged. this reduction is 5 cents on the first 1000 cubic feet in any one month and I0 cents per I000 on each addional 1000 used in any month. thus a consumer who uses three thousand cubic feet a month would save 25 cents , or an average of eight and one third cents per 1000. This reduction in price is the commission's determination of the compensation to the consumer for the loss in quality. The Public Service Co. strenously insisted that there be no reduction in the pride, claiming that it needed all the saving in order to make up for the increased cost of production; but this the Commission held would amount indirectly to an increase in rate, whioh was not warranted under the evidenoe introduced inthe case. Yours very truly Signed Ralph L Peck. Signed F.W. Pringle Secy. of the Assn of Chairman. Municipalities. Thereupon the olerk read the following bills having been 0.Ked by the proper oommittees. Wm.
