HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/05/1917 VB minutes Mount Prospect, June 5th, 1917.1 Minutes of the monthly meeting of the village board. The President called the meeting to order at 8.15 P.M. The clerk called the roll all members responding present. The clerk read the minutes of the first meeting, held Apr. 28th and minutes of a special meeting held May 6th and both were on motion made seconded and carried accepted as read. The treasurer report showing Receipts - 666.66 Expenditure - - - -- 90.51 • Balance on hand 576.)b was read. Thereupon the chairman of the Police and Lighting committee reported that another street light had been installed at Busse Ave & Wille St. and that in future light bills would amount to $1.67 more per month. The chairman of the Street and Side -walk committee re- ported that four brick crossings had been installed , Two wooden crossings repaired by nailing planks across the center of same , and that a cinder crush -stone crossing had been installed on the west side of Emerson St. across Railroad Ave. The chairman of the Health and Drainage committe re- ported that permission could be obtained to connect sewer tile with tile being laid in East St. for the sum of 1203.08 and that the labor for extending tile in Central St. from where it now terminates to new tile a distance of about 160 a feet and excavating and building a catch basin could be ob- tained for a sum of $35.00 , The cost of 160- 12 inch tile would be approximatly 520.00 and that in addition to these figures the village would have to purchase material such as brick and cement for building catch - basin. Thereupon it was duly moved by trustee Haberkamp seconded by trustee Pohlmann that the offer of 205.08 for permission to connect sewer tile running east in Central Street with drain running north and south in East street be accepted. - - -- Moll Call - - -- Beigel aye Gosch aye Pohlmann aye Busse aye =aberkamp aye Wuerfell aye. It was duly moved by trustee Beigel seconded by trus- tee Pohlmann that the matter of extending sewer tile in Central street 160 ft. to tile in East St. and wether or not a catch basin should be build be reffered to the Health and Drainage committee with power to act , and that they have Mr. Henry A. Motion carried Ayes 6 Nays 0. Trustee Wuerffel intrduced the following resolution which was unanimously addbpted . " Be it resolved, that we , the President and Board of trustees of the village of Mount Prospect , extend a vote of thanks to the members of the Arlington Heights Fire Depart- 9 ment for their kind assistance rendered cn the twenty first day of May ,1917 , at Mr. A. F. Jahncke's fire in this village, and be it futher resolved • That the village clerk be hereby authorized to send a copy of this resolution to the above mentioned Fire Department." ) Thereupon Trustee Wuerffel introduced an ordinance pro- viding for arrests, actions, suits and prosecutions fcr the violation of Village ordinances designated as ordinance No. 3; which was read by the Clerk It was duly moved by Trustee Wuerffel, seconded by Trustee Beigel, that said ordinance be passed, approved and published according to law. - -- Roll Call-- - Beigel aye Gosch aye Pohlman aye Busse aye Haberkamp aye Wuerffel aye Motion carried; Ayes 6 Nays 0. Thereupon Trustee Wuerffel intorduced an ordinance to regulate the use of motor vehicles and motor bicycles within the Village, and to provide penalties for the in- fraction thereof, designated as ordinance No. 4, which was read by the Clerk. It was duly moved by TrusteeBusse , seconded by Trustee Gosch, that the ordinance be passed, approved and published. - -- doll Call-- - Beigel aye Gosch aye Pohlman aye Busse aye Haberkamp aye Wuerffel aye Motion carried; Ayes 6 Nays 0. Thereupon Trustee Wuerffel introduced an ordinance defining misdemeanors and providing for the punishment thereof, which was read by Trustee Wuerffel. It was duly moved by Trustee Pohlmann, seconded by Trustee Wuerffel that same be passed, approved and published, according to law. - -- Roll Call - -- Beigel aye Gooch aye Pohlmann aye Busse aye Haberkamp aye Wuerffel aye Motion carried; Ayes 6 - Nays 0 Thereupon Trustee Wuerffel intorduced and read an ordinance granting the Chicago Telephone Company certain rights in the Village of Mount Prospecqt, Cook County, Illinois, designated as OrdinanceNo, b. It was duly moved by Trustee Gosch, seconded by Trustee Wuerffel, that said ordinance be passed and approved. -- -Roll 6a11 - -- Beigel aye Gosch aye Pohlmann aye Busse aye Haberkamp aye Wuerffel aye. Motion carried Ayes 6 Nays 0. There upon trustee Wuerffel introduced and read an or- 01 dinance defining nuisances and providing for penalties for the committing thereof, designated as ordinance No. 7. It was duly moved by trustee Gosch seconded by trustee Wuerffel that said ordinance be accepted , approved and published according to law. - - -- Roll Call - - -- Seigel aye Gosch aye Pohlmann aye Busse aye Haberkamp aye Wuerffel aye. Motion carried Ayes 6 Nays 0. Thereupon trusted Wuerffel introduced and read an or- dinance concerning contagious diseases and health of the village designated as ordinance No. 8. Motion carried Ayes 6 Nays 0. Thereupon Trustee Wuerffel introduced and read an or- providing for house moving and the procuring of permits therefor, designated as ordinance No. 9. Motion carried Ayes 6 Nays 0. There upon attorney Ralph L Peck drew up an ordinance making appropriation for corporate purposes in the village of Mt. Prospect, Cook County, Illinois, for the fiscal year beginning May lst 1917 and ending April 50th 1918. , the trustees furnishing him with the funds they wanted appro- priated for and the amount. said ordinance being designated as No. 10. It was duly moved by trustee Wuerffel seconded by trustee Haberkamp that said ordinance be accepted approved, and published as required by law. -- -- Roll Call - - -- Beigel aye Gosch aye Pohlmann aye. Busse aye Haberkamp aye Wuerffel aye. - Motion carried ayes 6 Nays 0. 014 The President was asked for the use of a steam roller for several days on our streets , by the trustees. It was duly moved by trustee Haberkamp seconded by trus- tee Pohlmann that the Street and Side Walk committe be authorized to purchase a culvert to be placed in R.R. ave. and that they be authorized to do other necessary repair- ing of streets. - ---- Roll Call Beigel aye Gosch aye Pohlmann aye busse aye Haberkamp aye Wuerffel aye.
