HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/11/1960 VB minutes MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES HELD IN THE MUNICIPAL BLDG. OCTOBER ll, 1960 The meeting was called to order by President Lams at 8:08 P.M. roll call and the following trustees answered Present: Trustees Airey, Caste~- line, Ekren, Gaw, Norris and Schlaver. Trustee Norris, seconded by Trustee Casterline, moved that the minutes of the previous meeting for October 4th be approved as submitted. The President put the question, the deputy clerk called the roll, minutes with the following response: Ayes, Trustees Airey, Casterline, Gaw, and Norris. Pass, Ekren and Schlaver. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried. Trustee Gaw, seconded by Trustee Ekren, moved that the following bills for the week of October llth be approved for payment: General - $10,958.55 bills Library - 326.45 Motor Fuel Tax 605.37 WATER Operation 1,072.67 Bond & Int. 1960 2,507.50 Construction 4~Y12.40 $20,182.94 The President put the question, the Clerk called the roll, with the following response: Ayes, Trustees Airey, Casterline, Ekren, Gaw, Norris and Schlaver. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried. Trustee Ekren ~ave the Building Report for September. Trustee Norris reported that progress is being made regarding Sera£ine's Serafine's property on the north side of East Central Road, levelling 3rd Add'n piles of dirt, paving Edward Street. Trustee Schlaver reported that a complete sprinkling ban has Water - been imposed upon the Village because of a broken shaft in Well #5. Wells 5 & 6 Mr. Appleby stated that if all goes smoothly, Well #5 should be back in operation in a couple of days. Mr. Appleby reported that connecting Sprinkling mains to Well ~6 are in, but due to delays in waiting for special parts ban on order, it is estimated that Well ~6 will not be in operation for about two months. Trustee Casterline read the following letters: Police Dept. October 7, 1950 Patrolman Mr. George E. Whittenberg Gerald Glasco Chief of Police Mount Prospect, Illinois Dear Chief whittenberF: Patrolman Gerald A. Glascock of Four department has been awarded a certificate for the Accident Investigation-Administration & Techniques unit course conducted here September 12-30, 1960. He is to be commended for his sustained interest and application during the three-week period of instruction. Seven hours in class plus two or three hours of study and the review and development of notes constitute a ri~orous daily schedule. In the Accident Investigation Course, he studied what police management, can do through supervision and training to improve the quantity and quality of information gathered at accident seenes. October 3, 1960 Citizen's Traffic Safety Board 20 North%Tacker Drive Chicago 8, Illinois Dear Sirs: I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to you for the scholarship awarded to me for the course in "Accident Investigation -- Administration & Techniques" by Northwestern University Traffic Institute. I have successfuly completed this course and feel it will be of great benefit to our police department and to all persons in our Village who are interested in the prevention of traffic accidents. Village Manager Appleby read petition from the Mount Prospect Annexation Bible Church asking for annexation of their property on the south petition side of Golf Road. No plat of survey was attached. This petition Bible Church wasreferred to the Judiciayy Committee while awaiting the plat. Village Manager Appleby read letter from Consoer, Townsend Weller Creek - & Associates dated October 10th which made recommendations for the bridge bridge across Weller Creek at George Street to be built by Semmerling Builders. Copieswere to be sent to Semmerling and his architect-engineer, James Viger. Mokate - Mr. Michael Mokate arose, returning again to his former sidewalk alon~ subject of installation of sidewalk along Elmhurst running NoElmhurst north from Central, asking for a statement as to why no sidewalks have been installed and under what conditions they would be installed. The Board again stated that this is private property, that only the west half of this section of the street had ever been dedicated for right of way and that the 18-foot wide pavement had been privately installed by the owner. Mr. Mokate demanded that the Village exercise the right of eminent domain, purchase property on the east side of the street, inc!udin~ cemetery property~ in order to install a sidewalk.
