ADJOURNMENT ANY INDIVIDUAL WITH A DISABILITY WHO WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND THIS MEETING SHOULD CONTACT THE VILLAGE MANAGER'S OFFICE AT '100 SOUTH EMERSON STREET, 847/392-6000, TDD 847/392-6064 Resolution No. A RESOLUTION CONCERNING ADDITIONAL RUNWAYS AT O'HARE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect is a community of some 56,265 residents and 21,585 households; and WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect is located less than seven miles from O'Hare International Airport; and WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect has noticed a decided increase in the amount of air traffic and, consequently, aircraft-related noise during the past several years; and WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect believes that an expansion of air traffic capacity made possible because of additional runways will have an adverse and negative impact on the quality of life of our citizens; and WHEREAS, the ¥illage of Mount Prospect does not have confidence national and state leaders will adequately balance quality of life issues of our residents and economic issues derived from the airport, and that State, and in particular, local leaders, should work together to resolve issues pertaining to the airport, such as safety of the users of the Airport, and those living around it, as well as passenger delays. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: The Village of Mount Prospect hereby states its firm opposition to new runways, modifications, or reconfigurations of runways which increase flight capacity at O'Hare International Airport. SECTION TVVO: That the Village Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to the Governor of the State of Illinois, the President of the Illinois Senate, the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Mayor of the City of Chicago and any other Federal and State officials and representatives as directed by the Village Board. SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law. AYES: NAYS: ABSENT: PASSED and APPROVED this day of ,2001.
