MINUTES
CLOSED SESSION
AUGUST 2, 2005
The Closed Session began at 8:29 p.m. in the Village Hall Executive Conference Room, 50 South
Emerson Street. The purpose of the Closed Session was to discuss Litigation, Property Acquisition
and Personnel. Present were: Mayor Irvana Wilks; Trustees Timothy Corcoran, Paul Hoefert, John
Korn, Richard Lohrstorfer, Michaele Skowron, and Michael Zadel. Staff present included: Village
Manager Michael Janonis, Assistant Village Manager David Strahl, Police Chief Richard Eddington
and Community Development Director William Cooney.
Litigation
no 1 Police Chief Richard Eddington updated Board members regarding compliance efforts with the
u ° 1 Department of Justice arising out of the Martinez Lawsuit. Chief Eddington reported that the Village
had gotten to the point with data collection and reporting that DOJ was expressing a willingness to
nao start the clock on the "critical compliance" timeline. While Chief Eddington was optimistic that the
Cg relationship with the Department of Justice would continue on a positive basis, he noted that it might
g I become necessary to consider litigating the terms of the Memorandum of Agreement in order to
�_; secure DOJ cooperation. Board members asked that they be briefed on a periodic basis regarding
the progress of our efforts to comply with the Memorandum of Agreement.
