IV. FERAL CAT UPDATE
The discussion for this evening will be the third meeting scheduled specifically to
discuss feral cats. The previous discussions of January 12 and May 11, 2010
focused on gathering information regarding the situation as it exists throughout the
Village and exploring proposed solutions for consideration from a policy stand point.
During the meeting on May 11, 2010 staff proposed seven decision models and the
projected process to undertake each option and any related expenses. The Village
Board directed staff to modify one particular option that utilized a measured
response focusing on elimination of the nuisance.
Based on the input from the Village Board from May 11 the draft ordinance
presented this evening is recommended by staff. This draft ordinance also was
previously discussed with the feral cat colony sponsor and their recommendations
were incorporated.
Appropriate staff will be present to facilitate the discussion and residents previously
identified as having an interest in this topic were also invited to this meeting.
