HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/15/1963 VB minutes MINUTES OF MEETING OF BOARD OF TRUSTEES HELD IN VILLAGE HALL OCTOBER 15, 1963 President Schlaver called the meeting to order aT 8:15 P.M. with the following members present: Bruhl Bickley Bergen roll call Ekren Casterline Absent: Phillips Trustee Casterline~ seconded by Trustee Bruhl~ moved for approval of the minutes of October 8th as submitted. Upon roll call: Ayes: Bruhl Bickley Bergen minutes Ekren Casterline Absent: Phillips Motion carried. Trustee Bruhl, seconded by Trustee Casterline, moved for approval of the following bills: bills General $12,006.94 Motor Fuel Tax 36,683.91 Waterworks $ Sewerage 6~758.26 Waterworks ~ Sewerage Acquis. & Construction 678.00 $56~127.11 Upon roll call: Ayes: Bruhl Bickley Bergen Ekren Casterline Absent: Phillips Motion carried. Trustee Casterline, seconded by Trustee Ekren~ moved that the~Village Clerk open bids for tree spraying. This motion carried Trees - by acclamation. The bids were read as follows: Spray bids Per Tree Nels Johnson Tree Experts 1.59 Hamer Hargrave Tree Service 1.3q Davey Tree Experts 2.10 Parrish Tree Expert, Inc. 1.60 Gosch's Nursery 1.77 Fowler Tree Surgery Co. 1.36 Trustee Casterline, seconded by Trustee Bruhl~ moved that the above bids be referred to the Street Committee for study and recommendation. This mo~ion carried by acc3a~ation. Trustee Bickley~ seconded by TrusTee Ekren, moved that the Police Dep~ Clerk open bids for two police department squad cars. This motion Squad cars carried by acclamation~ and the bids were read as follows: October 15, 1963 Police Dept. Squad cars George Poole Ford Fords, 4-dr. $4,252.00 Arlington Heights Car Allowance~ each 950.00 Des Plaines Motor Sales, Inc. Car Allowance, each 1,160.00 Trustee Bickley, seconded by Trustee Ekren~ moved that these bids be referred to the Police Committee. This motion carried by acclamation. Trustee Bicktey Best wishes for a successful campaign were tendered John Bickley, who had announced his candidacy for States Attorney in the County of Cook. Trustee Bickley thanked the members present and stated that if he could not carry the load of the campaign as well as his trusteeship he would be willing to resign. Trustee Bickley reported that there have been two Boundaries meetings between members of the Board of Trustees of Arlington Heights and Mount Prospec~ regarding boundary of sphere of influence~ and reported that Arlington Heights had passed a resolution denoting such a boundary. Amling~on Heights has proffered an agreement, signed by their president, clerk and chairman of their plan commis- -- sion, with spaces for signatures of Mount Prospect's president, clerk and chairman of plan commission, agreeing to said boundary. Trustee Bickley~ seconded by Trustee Bergen~ moved to refer this agreement to the Plan Commission with the request that they repor~ back by the nex~ regular meeting. Trustee Bickley~ seconded by Trustee Bruhl, moved for the Ord. 940 passage of Omd. 940: Curfew (Police Dept.) AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE BY ESTABLISHING A CURFEW FOR MINORS This follows the State law. Upon roll call: Ayes: Bickley Bruhl Bergen Ekren Casterline Absent: Phillips Motion carried. October 15, 1963 Trustee Bruhl, seconded by Trustee Casterline~ moved Finance that Financial Report for the month of September, 1963, be accepted subject to annual audit. This motion carried by acclamation. Trustee Ekren, seconded by Trustee Bruhl, moved for Res. 39-63 adoption of Res. 39-63: County Zoning objection A RESOLUTION DIRECTED TO THE COUNTY CLERK OF COOK COUNTY FOR TRANSMITTAL TO THE COOK COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OBJECTING TO THE REZONING OF CERTAIN PROPERTY DESIGNATED BY THE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS OF COOK COUNTY AS DOCKET #632, SAID PROPERTY BEING IN WHEELING TOWNSHIP Upon roll call: Ayes: Bergen Bickley Bruhl Casterline Ekren Absent: Phillips Motion carried. Trustee Ekren reported re interview with architects for Fire House proposed fire house~ stating that the following members of the interviewing committee, Chief Haberkamp, Ben Hemmeter, Wm. Phillips, Parker Ekren and Harold Appleby, recommended appointment of Robert C. Swanson, 625 Grove Street, Evanston, as fire house architect. The fee is 6% of cost, estimated cost, $100,000. T~ustee Ekren, seconded by Trustee Casterline, moved that Robert C. Swanson be employed as architect for proposed fire station to be erected on Golf Road. Upon roll call: Ayes: Bergen Bickley Bruhl Casterline Ekren Absent: Phillips Motion carried. Attorney Hofert introduced new member of his staff~ who Attorney had lately been admitted to the bar, Mr. Larry Grant. Trustee Bickley~ seconded by TrusTee Ekren~ moved for ad- journmen~ until 8:00 P.M. of October 29th. This motion carried by acclamation, and the meeting was adjourned au 9:15 P.M.
