construct grade crossing protection of electrically controlled
automatic gates at the PAai.n Street crossing of the Chicago and
Northwestern Railroad, and
WHEREAS, it is essential that the Stop and Go lights on North-
west Highway be synchronised with the crossing controls, and
WHEREAS, the existing Stop and Go lights are not constructed to
permit this synchronising and
WHEREAS, the County of Cook proposes to widen Main Street
(Elmhurst Road) which will undoubtedly increase the movement of
traffic and
WHEREAS, this route is of great value for the movement of troops
during this grave emergency
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Village does hereby petition the State
of Illinois His excellency Governor Green, the Department of
Highways, to construct Stop and Go traffic lights at Northwest
Highway and Main Street in the Village of Mount Prospect, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the project include new install-
ation at Northwest Highway and Emerson Street to conform to the
type at Main Street.

March, A. D. 194 at Mount Prospect, Illinois
