HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 03-51 02/06/1951 FMO*AGH 1. 8c9c RESOLUTION No. 3 -51 RESOLUTION PROTESTING THE INADEQUATE SERVICES OF THE CHICAGO AND NORTHWESTERN RAILROAD COMPANY * * * * * BE IT RESOLVED By the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois: Section 1. That a protest be forwarded to the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad Company by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, with respect to the growing inadquate services that that carrier is furnish- ing to this municipality, pointing out that in spite of several very substantial increases in fares: (1) no additional trains liave been put on to serve the rapidly growing number of commu- ters in this area; (2) the present trains are crowded to the point that even standing room is at a premium; (3) many times coaches are unheated causing danger to health; (4F) trains very seldom maintain their time schedules with the result that persons riding such trains are unable to arrive at their places of employment consistently on time which causes loss of income to such individuals; and (5) the lights in the coaches are so dim that it is impossible to read printed matter without serious damage to the eyesight. Section 2. That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the governing bodies of the municipalities of Park Ridge, Des Plaines, Arlington Heights, Palatine and Barrington. Section 3. That these municipalities jointly bring the matter of inadequate services of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad Company to the attention of the Illinois Commerce Commission to seek relief prompt and certain of the deplorable situation.
