RESOLUTION No. 4 -51
RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE
STATE OF ILLINOIS TO CON -
STRUCT ROUTE 83 AROUND THE
VILLAGE AS ORIGINALLY
PROPOSED.

WHEREAS, for many years the State of Illinois has in-
dicated that Route 83 would be extended northly from a point
at Busse Road at Oakton Street, passing alongside the Village
of Mount Prospect rather than through it; and
WHEREAS, its present location on Elmhurst Road and Main
Street through the Village of Mount Prospect places a burden
on the Village of Mount Prospect due to the additional police
'protection at school crossings and police patrol for excessive
speed of thru traffic; and
WHEREAS, the mixture of thru traffic with strictly local
village traffic is recognized by traffic engineers as most
hazardous from a safety angle;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and
Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County,
Illinois:
Section 1. That the State of Illinois is hereby re-
quested to take immediate action to secure right of way and
'construct without delay Route 83 in the general location as
originally proposed.
Section 2. That request is hereby made of the State
of Illinois to advise the President and Board of Trustees of
this Village of its intended action.
