Trustee Phillips, seconded by Trustee Bickley, moved to open bids submitted for booster pump repair. The bids were opened as follows: Water Wells 3 ~ 5 Erskine ¢ Co., Skokie $4,740 Geo. Hardin Co., Chicago 4,875 Wanzenburg Co., Evanston 3,820 Walter Tertinger, Lyons 8,365 The Board referred the above bids to Mr. Art Lewis of Consoer, Townsend & Associates and Mr. James King, Finance Director, for their recommendation. Messrs. Lewis and King returned later in the meeting~ stating that the bids were all in order and recommending W. Wanzenburg as the best qualified bidder. Trustee Phillips~ seconded by Trustee Bruhl, moved to award contract Water for removal from Well 5 to Well 3 and repair of booster pump to W. Wanzenburg & Co. of Evans~r~on~_for $3,820. Upon roll call: Ayes: Bickley Bergen Bruhl Ekren Casterline Phillips Motion carried. July 9~ 1963 ater Trustee Phillips read letter of proposal from Ernest Bernard, electrical contractor~as follows: Gentlemen: In reference to proposed changes at Pump Station ~5 to replace 50 HP pump motor with a 75 HP pump motor, the motor control equipment and wiring is of correct capacity for a 75 ~-- HP motor; the work involved will be tO change overload heater~ , elements and connect up motor~ The cost for this work will be $5O.OO. The proposed changes at Pump Station #3 will involve the installation of a heavier capacity line from Service en- trance cabinet tO booster pump house. This installation will consist of a 200 amp fused disconnect switch at service entrance cabinet~ with a line run of 2" conduit and 3/0 wire to booster pump house. The cost for this installation work will be $925.00. Also at Pump Station #3, to change 30 HP pump motor 'with a 50 HP pump motor~ the installation work will consist of 100 amp fused disconnnect switch, Size 4 magnetic starter and necessary changes in wiring from switch to magnetic starte~ and to meter. The cost for this installation work will be $757.00. Very truly yours, Ernest Bernard Trustee Phillips explained that the Water COmmittee had met and the majority had agreed to entertain the above proposal. Trustee Phillips~ seconded by Trustee Bickley, moved that the job as above outlined be let to Ernest Bernard at a cost of $1,550. Upon roll call: Ayes: Bergen Bickley Bruhl CasterLine Phillips Nays: Ekren Motion carried. traffic Trustee Bickley reported that Consolidated Traffic En- gineering agreed to report on the traffic situation around the churches as soon as possible. He also complimented the Police Department on their fine work during theFou~th of July holiday celebration despite the fact that four cars parked in the lot next to the carnival were sprayed with paint by vandals. Trustee Bickley recalled last year's case wherein Electric Electrical Contractor Verne Smith agreed to abide by arbitration decision whether work done by him in certain Di Mucci homes should be done over or mt. The decision of the arbitrator after inspec- tion of the work was that it was a "llfe hazard". However, Mr. Smith never did rectify his work. Trustee Bickley, seconded by Trustee Phillips, moved that the Village Attorney look into the feasibility of filing suit against Verne Smith seeking releases to allow another electrical contrac- tor to do this work; asking Mr. Hofert to report back to the Board what legal action would be advisable to take. July 9, 1963 Trustee Ekren reported that Zoning Case 63-16, hearing Zoning Case of June 28 had been carried over to July 26th hearing. 63-16 Trustee Ekren read the following report from the Zoning Board re Case 63-17, Ashley Ricketts, heard June 28th: Zoning Case 63-17 This is a request for rezoning to B-3 contingent upon annexation of three acres abutting the north edge of Kersting's Garden Center on North Main Street, running east to Rand Road. The petition was approved 4-3. N. L. Gorney, Acting Sec'y E. F. Martin, Chairman This matter was referred to the Judiciary Committee. Trustee Ekren read the following report from the Zoning Zoning Case Board re Case 63-18, Commonwealth Edison Company (Public Service): 63-18 This use comes under I-1. The area already has a sub- station but the petitioner inten~ to increase the capacity. I-1 zoning removes a special use and puts the proper zoning on this area. E. F. Martin, Chairman N. L. Gorny, Acting Sec'y Trustee Ekren, seconded by Trustee Casterline, moved that the Board of Trustees concur with the Zoning Board in granting the above request, and that the Board direct the Village Attorney to prepare necessary ordinances for this annexation and zoning. Trustee Ekren, seconded by Trustee Bruhl, moved for the adoption of Res. 63-29 as follows: Res. 63-29 County Zoning A RESOLUTION OPPOSING REZ0NING OF CERTAIN PROPERTY LOCATED IN COOK COUNTY - COOK COUNTY BOARD OF APPEALS CASE NOS. 587, 588 and 589 Upon roll call: Ayes: Bickley Bruhl Bergen~ Ekren Casterline Phillips Motion carried. Appleby, Village Manager Village of Mount ~rospect Dear Sir: Mr. Seymour Simon, President of the Board of Commissioners of Cook County, in his deep concern for the orderly development of building usage in the unincorporated areas of Cook County, has re- cently vetoed two actions of the County Board's Zoning Committee for the usage of R-6 construction of property in the vicinity of Golf Road and Greenwood Avenue and Golf Road and Park Lane Avenue in Maine Township. Mr. Simon has suggested reconsideration of these two mat- ters and that further study of the developments be brought to the attention of the Northwest Suburban area elected officials. In this connection, please be informed that a meeting will be held on Thurs- day~ July 18, 1963 at 8:00 P.M. in the Des Plaines City Hall, Des Plaines, Illinois. Pine megamdlng setting up of Schlaver litter baskets and commended him upon his civic attitude. July 9~ 1963 State of Illinois President Schlaver informed the Board that Manager Appleby is to be present in Springfield for meeting called by the governor taking up the problem of civil rights; Mr. Appleby will report the happenings at this council back to the Board. President Schlaver stated that nearby communities Aeronautics desired Mt. Prospect to join~them in asking for noise suppres- ~! sion from jets taking off from O'Hare Field. President Schlaver expressed his feeling that while he sympathized with ~- these communities, he felt that the jet is here to stay and that nothing much can be done on a local level. Mr. Frank Collin, pilot with North Central Airlines~ happened to be in the audience and stated that Mount Prospect islucky regarding the noise, as it does not lie directly in any path; be further added that addition of suppressors to the large transports cuts their efficiency a~d payload. Attorney Hofert stated that Elk Grove Village had a citiZens committee which were meeting with O'Hare Field personnel .on this subject. President $chlaver said he would consider a similar committee for Mount ?rospect. Finance Trustee Bruhl, seconded by Trustee phillips, moved that theVillage Clerk be authorized to publish legal notice in the Mount Prospect Herald and the Mount Prospect Independent informing the general public that public hearing on appropria- tion ordinance for May 1, 1988-April 30, 1964 will be held on July 23, 1963 at 8:00 P.M.; further, that details of the pro- posed appropriation ordinance will be on file in the office of the Village Clerk beginning 8:30 A.M. July 18th. This mo- tion carmied by acclamation. Mr. Peter Olesen of 126 Bobby Lane protested that --~ Building condition of certain houses on Weller Lane left unfinished by ' Mar Don Construction Co. were an attractive nuisance to children and an eyesore and asked the Village if something could be done. The Village Attorney agreed To look into the matter to see what method could be used To force the builder to finish these houses. Trustee Bruhl, seconded by Trustee Bickley, moved to Lot ~ approve contract to sell Lot 4 Maplecrest To McCabe Realty, and Maplecrest also moved that the Village.furnish a plat~of survey on Lot 4 to McCabe Realty. This motion carried by acclamation. Trustee Bruhl~ seconded by Trustee Bickley,moved that Parking lots the firm of Allied Asphalt be directed to proceed with the paving of Village-ow-ned property on South Maple Street To be used for public parking. This motion carried by acclamation. TrusTee BruRt~ seconded by Trustee Bickley, moved That the Village advertise for bids for improvement of Village-owned land on Wille Street behind Prospect Avenue to be paved for parking.
