MINUTES
March 1, 2010

Chairman Busse called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.
Roll Call: George Busse, Chairman
James Powers, Commissioner
Michaele Skowron, Commissioner
Absent: Charles Bennett, Commissioner
Hank Friedrichs III, Commissioner
Also Present: Michael Figolah, Fire Chief
John Malcolm, Deputy Fire Chief
John Wagner, Police Commander
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner Powers to accept the
minutes of the February 2,2010, Open Meeting.
Voice Vote: Ayes: Busse, Powers, Skowron
Nays: None Motion Carried
POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Commander John Wagner provided a brief update on department staffing.
FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Chief Figolah informed the Board that Paul Valentine's last day with the Fire Department was February
26th. The Chief also provided a brief update on the current Lieutenant Promotional Test.
CLOSED SESSION
A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner Powers to go into
Closed Session under personnel 5 ILCS 120/2 (c)(1) at 6:20 p.m.
Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Busse, Powers, Skowron
Nays: None Motion Carried
The Board returned to Open Session at 6:40 p.m. with everyone present.
OTHER BUSINESS
Commissioner Skowron provided the Board with information she received while attending the State of
Illinois Curriculum Revitalization Career and Technology Education Program, which focused on EMS and
First Responders.
The next meeting will be held April 5, 2010, at 6:00 p.m.
Chairman Busse provided the members with the dates of the next Illinois Fire and Police Commissioners
Association Conference: spring session, April 30th - May 2nd in Peoria and the fall session, November 5th
_7th at Indian Lakes in Bloomingdale.
At 6:55 p.m., Commander Wagner and Diane Rhode were excused from the meeting.

FIRE DEPARTMENT NEW HIRE PROCESS REVIEW
The Board discussed the current fire department new hire process and oral interview questions. It was
agreed before the next meeting Fire Chief Figolah will provide the commissioners with questions for their
input. The questions will be reviewed at the April 5th meeting.
With no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by
Commissioner Powers to adjourn at 7:45 p.m.
