Mayor Farley called the meeting to order at 10:25 p.m., in the Senior Center. A roll call was taken.
Present were: Trustees Timothy Corcoran, Paul Hoefert, Richard Lohrstorfer, Michaele Skowron and
Irvana Wilks. Absent from the Closed Session was Trustee Dennis Prikkel. The meeting was convened
to discuss Personnel and Litigation. Motion was approved. Staff present included: Village Manager
Michael Janonis and Assistant Village Manager David Strahl.
Personnel
Village Manager Michael Janonis stated that negotiations with the Police and Fire Unions are
underway. He also stated that the Village undertook an Interest Based Bargaining Training Session with
the Police and Fire leadership and are using a number of these techniques during the negotiation
process. He stated the main issue with the Police seems to be a schedule change from their current
schedule to a schedule, which allows additional weekends and three consecutive days off on a periodic
basis. He stated he is hopeful something can be worked out to acknowledge the need to fully consider a
schedule change. He stated the Fire issues appear to be related to establishing a full contract with
extensive language.
Litigation

Village Manager Janonis stated that a former Police Officer, Joe Garcia, has filed a lawsuit claiming
discrimination against the Police Pension Board for his participation in the Martinez Case. He stated that
Garcia had been denied a pension after he developed a heart condition.
There being no further business, the Closed Session adjourned at 11 :13 p.m.
