A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF O'HARE NOISE
COMPATIBILITY COMMISSION REQUEST FOR RECONSIDERATION
OF CERTAIN SOUND INSULATION FUNDING ELIGIBILITY
WHEREAS, the O'Hare Noise Compatibility Commission (ONCC) is an organization
which provides a common forum for interested parties to have a voice in noise
issues related to Chicago O'Hare International Airport (O'Hare Airport) and which is
governed by the International Agreement Relating to the O'Hare Noise Compatibility
Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect is a member of the ONCC; and
WHEREAS, Elk Grove High School has met one or more of the eligibility criteria in
order to receive certain sound insulation funding from the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) as part of the School Sound Insulation Program but has not met
the revised requirement that a school be within the 60 DNL or greater noise contour
of O'Hare Airport; and
WHEREAS, Elk Grove High School may be eligible for certain sound insulation
funding from the FAA should the FAA reconsider its eligibility criteria relating to the
O'Hare Airport noise contour; and
WHEREAS, one hundred and eight (108) students from the Village of Mount
Prospect attend Elk Grove High School; and
WHEREAS, the Village Board has determined that it is in the public interest to
request that the FAA reconsider the eligibility criteria as it relates to the O'Hare noise
contour.
NOvv, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MA YOR AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY,
ILLINOIS,
SECTION ONE: That the Mayor and Board of. Trustees of the Village of Mount
Prospect do hereby request that the FAA reconsider its requirements for eligibility
criteria as it relates to the O'Hare Airport noise contour so as to allow Elk Grove High
School to be eligible for certain sound insulation funding under the School Sound
Insulation Program.
SECTION TWO: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.

NA YS: None
ABSENT: Matuszak
