Call to or~er INVOCATION Trustee Kilroy gave the invocation. Invocati°n ROLL CALL Roll Call Present upon roll call: Ahem Furst Kilroy Norris Reiter Teichert Absent: Soderman STATUS REVieW WI'I'H SA~'~.T~ COMMISSION Status review with This mee$%ng had been called by President Teichert for the Safety Commission purpose of review~e~E the recon~nendations of the Sagety Con~ssion and Public Health and Safety Committee regarding traffic control. Members of the Safety Conmtis~lon were present and submitted recommendations for action n~w, the second year projection and general items for the future. It was the reeonEendation of the Safety Commission that Evergreen be made one way east from Maple Avenue to Elm. Trustee Reiter, seconded by Trustee Furst, moved that the Village of Mount Prospect change the intersection at Maple, Evergreen and Northwest Highway as indicated on the maps supplied by the Village Engineer and Safety Con~lssion. Upon roll call: Ayes: Ahem Furst Kilroy Norris Reiter Motion carried. The Village Attoz~ey was directed to prepare the appropriate ordinance to institute the above change. Euclid at the east entrance to Randhurst will be submitted with a later date with a proposal for lighting at that intersection. It was the recon~r~ndation of the Safety Con,mission and with the approval of the Public Health and Safety Co~sSion that the intersection of Rte. 83 and Ldncoln, Rte. 83 and Main, undergo traffic marking siva and barricade changes as indicated on two layouts as indicated by the Village Engineer, and Trustee Reiter, seconded by Trustee Ahem, moved for Board approval. Upon roll call: Ayes: Ahem Furst Kilroy Norris Reiter Motion carried. Following the above motion~ the Village Attorney was requested to prepare the appropriate ordinance. At Northwest Highway and Dale there is a sighting problem. Trustee Reiter, seconded by Trustee Ahem, moved there be no parking at any time for 450' east of the east line of Dale Avenue on the Northwest Highway to afford appropriate sight distance on the north side of the Northwest ~ighway. Upon roll call: Ayes: Ahem Furst Kilroy Norris Reiter Motion carried. January 12, 1971 he administration was requested to correspond with the owner of the business at that location to advise him of the Board motion and how it was precipitated and also inform him the Village intends to direct this reGuest to the State to have no parking signs posted. At Main Street, Northwest Highway, Prospect and Evergreen it had been suggested closing a section of Evergreen, utilizing a portion for parking. This brought about considerable discussion. The Acting Village Manager brought to the attention of the Board that in consideration of the above, the problem of Rte. 83 and Central, ~'~$e. 83 and Northwest Hwy., Rte. 83 and Prospect, and Ere. 83 and Busse, all should be reviewed. Mr. Zimmermann read a draft letter to the Illinois Division of Highways soliciting State aid in the above project. Trustee Reiter, seconded by Trustee Kilroy, moved, weather conditions permitting, to flow traffic west on Busse with stop si~as at Wille on Busse. Upon roll call: A · yes. Ahem Furst Kilroy Norris Reiter Motion carried. Trustee Ahem, .seconded by Trustee Reiter, moved to authorize the t~cting Village Manager to direct a letter to Sigrnund Ziejewski, Regional Transportation ~E~g~ ineer, Illinois Division of Highways, to solicit the State's planning and ff-~ucial aid in the construction and signalization improvement of Route 83 between Evergreen and Central. Upon roll call: Ayes: Ahem Furst Kilroy Norris Reiter Motion carried. Further discussion will follow regarding Evergreen Street, and the merchants and property owners were to be advised of a. meeting of the Safety Commission on February 1st, and Public Health and Safety Committee on Fe.hruary 10th, at which time this matter would be reviewed. RECESS The mee$ing recessed at 10~'~5 P.M. and reconvened at ll:00 ?.M. Present upon roll call: Ahem Furst Kilroy Norris Reiter Teichert Trustee Reiter, seconded by Trustee Norris, moved the Board go on record as being in favor of the extension of Busse north of Central to the Northwest Highway. Upon roll call: Ayes: Furst K~lroy Norris Reiter Nays: Ahern Motion carried. The Village Attorney was directed to draft a sight.diStance ordinance to be submitted to the Safety Commission-s, for review and reconvnendation. The Village Attorney was directed to draft an intersection control warrants ordinance to be submitted to the Safety Conm~ission for review and recormr~ndation.
