BOARD MEETING OF THE
MAYDR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
January 6, 1977
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Teichert called th~ meeting to order at 7:37 P.M.
INVOCATION
Trustee Rhea gave the invocation.
ROLL CALL

Special meeting and public qearing of the Mayor and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Mt. Prospect and Mt. Prospect Planning
Commission, called by Mayor Teichert on Wednesday, December
15, 1976, pursuant to Chapter 2 "The Board of Trustees,"
Section 2.103 "Meetings", as specified in the Municipal Code
of Mount Prospect.
This meeting was called for the purpose of reviewing an amend-
ment to the 1976 Comprehensive Village Plan.
George March, member-Business District Development and Redevelop-
ment Commission, s~oke on the history of the Plan through a
slide presentation. He stressed the implementation of the
Plan should be a cooperative effort between the Public and
private sector.
Gene Bradtke, Mt. Prospect Zoning Board of Appeals member, spoke
on behalf of the Plan, stressing that proper zoning was the key
to success.
Robert Bennett, former chairman of the Business District Develop-
ment and Redevelopment' Commission, also felt proper zoning was
important and asked for the appropriate Boards to adopt the
Plan.
C. O. Schlaver, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce,
advocated a special downtown zoning district and adoption of
the Plan.
George Anderson, 1st Vice-President elect of the Chamber of
Commerce, agreed with the proposal for a full-time Village
Planner to oversee the Plan, advocated rezoning concept, and
felt parking was a major problem in the downtown area.
Gerald Del Giodice, 1330 Mallard Lane, stated that although
he favored the Plan in general, no renting of housing units
should take place in the CBD - only people v~ho purchase housing
(investment). This he felt would maintain property values.
Mayor Teichert read a statement from the Mt. Prospect' State
Bank supporting the Plan.
Bart Keljik of Keljik's Carpet Center; Mary Lott, 7 S. Maple;
Paulette Maire; Bob O'Donnell; Joe Schultz; Phyllis Carl, 16
S. Maple all questioned how soon the Plan would be implemented,
especially as it pertains to the Main St. - Busse Ave. triangle.
ayor Teichert and Trustee Rhea responded no definite time frame
could be given. The' Plan is only a policy statement. Any
action would have to await a developer showing an interest in
a particular parcel of property. ~
Mayor Teichert requested the Planning Commission to make a
recommendation to the Village Board within 30 days after this
hearing and the Village Board within 90 days after the hearin§
to either adopt in .part or whole or reject in its entirety,
