THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
April 29, 1980
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Krause called the meeting to order at 7:47 P .M.
INVOCATION
The invocation was given by Trustee Richardson.

STATE OF ILLINOIS VS BUTTERFIELD
Village Attorney Barbara Baran explained that the pending litigation
was filed in 1974 and was brought by the Attorney General of the
State of Illinois in an effort to regulate the noise generated by
O'Hare Airport. Numerous municipalities are involved with the
action and the Attorney requested direction from the Board as to
the amount of involvement Mount Prospect would like to take in
this case.
Following a verbal poll of the Board, the Attorney was directed to
keep watch on the proceedings, but not to actually participate.
ACQUISITION, OF LAKE MICHIGAN WATER.
The following people were present at the meeting:
Chuck Willis, Village Manager of Elk Grove and Chairman
of the Executive Committee of VENTURE
Mr. Fricke, representing Citizens Utilities Water Company
Mr. Williams, representing the finanieal aspects
Mr. Holt, Metcalf & Eddy
James Muldoney; Flethcher Engineering
Cliff Weaver, Attorney for DAMP
Duane Fuerer, Attorney for DAMP
James Soyka, Mount Prospect Commissioner to DAMP
Merrill Cotten, 2710 Briarwood Drive
The various aspects of acquiring Lake Michigan water were discussed
relative to proceeding through DAMP or VENTURE, including costs;
connections points; upgrading the Mount Prospect system; handling
the increased capacities; operational timeta]51e; and reviewing the
numerous reports prepared on the subject.
Trustee Floros, seconded by Trustee Richardson, moved to continue
to work with the DAMP Commission and to pursue the DAMP route for
securing Lake Michigan water.
Upon roll call: Ayes: Floros Richardson Wattenberg
Nays: Farley Miller Murauskis Krause
Motion failed.
Trustee Murauskis, seconded by Trustee Miller, moved to proceed
with acquisition of Lake Michigan water through the VENTURE group
and that the Mayor be authorized to vote in favor of proceeding with
Phase HI of the VENTURE plan at the meeting to be held May ?, 1980.

Motion carried.

the meeting.
Upon roll call: Ayes: Unanimous
Motion carried.
