INVOCATION INVOCATION The invocation was given by Trustee Farley. ROLL CALL ROLL CALL Present upon roll call: Mayor Krause Trustees Arthur Farley Floros Wattenberg Absent: Trustee Murauskis (One vacancy on Board) WATER An Ordinance was presented for second reading that would ~GENCY amend the Agreement and Water Agency, for acquisition of AGREEMENT Lake Michigan water. Trustee Arthur, seconded by Trustee Farley, moved for passage of Ordinance No. 3283 0RD.NO.3282 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ~ENDMENT OF THE I.[ORTHWEST SUBURBAN MUNICIPAL JOINT ACTION WATER AGENCY AGREEMENT AND AUTHORIZING THE WATER SUPPLY AGREEMENT Upon roll call: Ayes: Arth'ur Farley Floros Wattenberg Krause Nays: None Motion carried. An Ordinance was presented that would authorize the ~.PECIAL creation of Special Service District No. 5 was ~ERVICE presented for first reading. DISTRCIT ~,0. 5 Trustee Farley, seconded b~ Trustee F10ros, moved to .waive the rule requiring two readings of an ordinance in order to take action on the subject ordinance. Upon roll call: Ayes: Arthur Farley Floros Wattenberg Krause Nays: None Motion carried. Trustee Fioros, seconded by Trustee Farley, moved for passage of Ordinance No. 3284 ORD.NO.32~4 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPECIAL SERVICE DISTRICT NO. 5, VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT Upo~ roll call: Ayes: Farley Floros Wattenberg Krause Nays: Arthur Motion carried. An Ordinance Providing for the Issue of $1,900~000 ~Unlimited Ad Valorem Tax Bonds of Special Service District No. 5 of the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois, and the Levy of a Direct Annual Tax Sufficient to Pay the Principal and Interest on Said Bonds was presented for first reading. This Ordinahce will be presented December 7th for second reading. The subject of possibly eliminating six crossing CROSSING guard positions was brought up. It was stated that GUARDS with the addition'of traffic signals and the decline in school attendance, certain crossing guard stations mlg~= not be necessary any more. The following residents spoke on the issue, stating their opposition to the removal of any crossing guard stations: Dorothy Sheen, 410 S. Pine Mary Brown, 900 W. Milburn · Pam Young, 316 S. Beverly Trese Yager, 411 S. Pine Mrs. Emily, 319 S. Elm~urst Resident, 400 S. Wille Pete Sherman, 321 S. Beverly Resident, 1708 Verde David Van, 412 S. Maple Mr. Battaglia, 533 E. Lincoln Richard Van Dyke, 22 S. Edward Len Bockman, 507 S. Hi Lusi Resident, 709 S. I-Oka Barbara Bark, 334 S. Maple Miss Predovich, Lonnquist Blvd. Mel Krumrey, 817 S. We Go It was stated that removing 6 stations would save the Village approximately $15,000, however inasmdch' as the residents of the area felt strongly on this issue, and did not seem to object to the cost, the Village Board, upon a verbal poll, stated they would not pursue this subject any further this year. Trustee Floros stated 'that he would review this subject each year in an effort to reduce taxes, and be mindful of safety to the residents. ADJOURN ADJOURNMENT Trustee Floros, seconded, by Trustee Farley, moved to adjourn this special meeting. Upon roll call: Ayes: Unanimous Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 8:48 P.M. Carol A.
