HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/03/2009 CCC minutes MINUTES VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT CITIZEN CORPS COUNCIL August 3, 2009 4:00 PM POLICE AND FIRE BUILDING The meeting was called to order by Mayor Wilks at 4: 15 PM. Those present: Mike Figolah John Dahlberg Paul Valentine Irvana Wilks Thomas Henderson Carol Lively A motion was made by Mike Figolah to approve the minutes of the January 28, 2009 meeting. The motion was seconded by John Dahlberg. Mike Figolah indicated he had new business to present. Irvana Wilks acknowledged Mike to begin. Mike indicated the Village had received two grants for the purchase of radios, safety vests for CERT as well as another Community Preparedness Guide. The Council Members present offered the following topics for consideration in the next guide. . An overview of pharmaceutical distribution in an emergency situation . A calendar of emergency preparedness events . The potential impact of the HINI . What to do and not do when the severe weather sirens are activated . Lessons learned from the storm (i.e. have a plan, know what to do, etc.) . An overview of the new EOC . An overview of the Evenbridge system The next topic of discussion under the Agenda was new business. Mayor Wilks asked the council if they had any old business to discuss. Chief Figolah indicated at the previous meeting time was spent discussing the need for radios for CERT. With the recent grant award, this issue will be addressed. Carol Lively asked if it was possible to have the MRC training with CERT. Paul Valentine indicated he would coordinate any specific CERT training the MRC felt they needed. It was determined the next meeting will be November 2, 2009 at 4 PM. The meeting will take place in the first floor training room at the Police and Fire Building, 112 East Northwest Highway. If time permits the Council may tour the construction site of the new EOC. A motion for adjournment was made by John Dahlberg. Mike Figolah seconded the motion and the meeting adjourned at 5: 10PM.
