A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE INTERCONNECTION OF THE WATER LINES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, THE VILLAGE or ARLINGTON HEIGHTS AND THE CITY or DES PLAn~ES. WHEREAS, it is believed to be to the best interest of the Village of Mount Prospect that it arrange for the interconnection of its water lines with the water lines of the Villa~e of Arlington Heights and the City of Des Plaines so as to provide and obtain an additional emergency source of water, and WHEREAS, the Village of Arlington Hei9hts and the City of Des Plaines believe it to be to their best interest as well as that of the Village of Mount Prospect that the interconnection of water lines be made, and WHEREAS, it is understood by the Villages of Mount Prospect and Arlin9ton Heights and the City of Des Plaines that the water to be provided as hereinafter set forth is for the sole purpose of providing an emergency supply of water for drinking, sanitary purposes, fire protection and health purposes as well as to improve each community's fire rating and civil defense posture; NOW THEREFORE be it resolved by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois: Section 1: That the Village of Mount Prospect shall arrange with the Village of Arlington Heights and the City of Des Plaines to inter- connect its water lines at places mutually convenient for the sole purpose of providing and obtaining an emergency supply of water for drinking, sanitary purposes, fire protection and health purposes as well as to improve each community's fire rating and civil defense posture. Section 2: That the Village of 110unt Prospect shall provide a six inch propeller type meter for the Arlington Heights interconnection and an eight inch propeller type meter for the Des Plaines interconnection and maintain same at its own expense, it being understood that said meter shall be the property of the Village of Mount Prospect. Section 3: That the Village of Mount Prospect will prepare any and all necessary plans and specifications necessary for arranging the interconnection of water lines as aforedescribed and will obtain competitive bids for the installation of said interconnections. That prior to a formal award of a contract to provide for said interconnections both the plans and specifications aforementioned and the contract upon which the award is to be made will be submitted for approval to the Village of Arlington Heights and the City of Des Plaines. That any and all costs for making the water interconnection with Des Plaines shall be shared eaually between the two villages and that the costs of making the interconnection of water lines between Arlington Heights and the Village of Mount Prospect shall he shared equally between the two villages. Section 4: That necessary arranpernents will be made so that the water can be turned cn between any two villages by the joint authorization of its Presidents and or ~ayor or such persons as they may desirnate in writ inp. Pave Two Section 5: That the cost of water to be provided through said interconnections shall be charged by the supplying municipality at the rate of thirty cents per thousand gallons. Adjustments between the muni- cipalities to be made semi-annuallv on the first of Januarv and the first of July of each year commencing January 1, 1964. Section 6: That this resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passare and approval by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect and upon the receipt by the Village Clerk of similar resolutions passed and adopted by the Village of Arlington Heights and the City of Des Plaines.
