HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 28-65 11/02/1965 Resolution No. 28-65 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING MIN~1UM BUILDING PERMIT FEES BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: That the Superintendent of Building be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to publish, distribute and enforce the following rules and guidelines in determining minimum charges for building permits: COMPUTING ESTIMATED TOTAL COSTS OF WORK FOR PURPOSE OF DETERMINING BUILDING PERMIT FEES In determining the estimated total cost of work to be covered by a building permit pursuant to Section 19 of Chapter 3 of the Building Code of Mount Prospect, the Mount Prospect Building Department will adhere to the following schedule of minimum charges. The minimum charge for a building permit shall be computed on the basis of the schedule that follo'VJs: Type of Building Minimum Estimated Total Cost of Work Per Square Foot of Living Area Full Two-Story Multi-Levels and 1-1/2 Story Single Floor Area $10.00 12.00 13.00 The amounts shO\1n in the following schedule shall be added to the minimum estimated total cost of work, as shown in the above schedule, in determining the estimated total cost of all work to be covered by the building permit: Attached garage (1 car) Attached garage (2 car) $1,500.00 2,000.00 Basement: 1/2 or less of lower floor area More than 1/2 of lower floor area 500.00 1,000.00 Porch: Open Porch (Enclosed Porches shall be included in floor area) 500.00 -2- The floor area of a building, for the purpose of this schedule, shall be computed as the sum of the gross horizontal areas of the several floors of the building measured from the exterior face of the exterior walls, but excluding any garage or basement areas. The following examples will illustrate the manner in which the minimums set by this schedule would be used in comput- ing the estimated total cost of the work. Example A: A two-story house with a full basement, a two-car attached garage, and 900 square feet of floor area on each floor of the house: 1,800 square feet @ $10.00 Basement Garage $18,000 1,000 2,000 $21,000 Example B: A one-story ranch house with 1,500 square feet of floor area, a one-car attached garage, and a porch, but no basement: 1,500 square feet @ $13.00 Garage Porch $19,500 1,500 500 $21,500 The establishment of the above schedule is intended only to provide a means of fixing the minimum amount of the building permit fee. Nothing in the above schedule shall be construed to relieve any applicant for a permit from compliance with the requirement of Section 19 of Chapter 3 of the Mount Prospect Building Code which requires that the building permit fee be based upon the estimated total cost of the work covered by the permit. -3- SECTION TWO: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
