HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 04-68 02/20/1968 c ,~\ ~ RESOLurION NO. 4-68 A RESOLurION INSURING FAIR HOUSING FOR AIL CITIZENS IN THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT WHEREAS, the laws of the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Illinois guarantee to all persons equally the right to live and to own property anywhere within our country regardless of race, color, religion, or national origin or ancestry; and WHEREAS, it has been the policy of this Village to maintain good government and jUdiciously promote business, trade, commerce, and to enhance the general welfare to foster and insure to all persons equally the opportunity to live in safe housing facilities of their choice regardless of race, color, religi,en, or national origin or ancestry; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, IILINOIS: SECTION I: That by this Resolution the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, speaking for and on behalf of the people of the Village of Mount Prospect, declare that it shall continue to be the policy of the Village of Ivbunt Prospect to further the policy of the State of Illinois as expressed in its Constitution and other laws; and for the protection of the public health, public safety, and public roorals to insure the opportunity for all persons to live in housing facilities of their choice with- out discrimination because of race, color. religion. or national origin or ancestry; and to encourage all citizens of the Village of Mount Prospect..... members appointed to Village Boards, real tors, home owners, apartment owners, renters. businessmen, housewives, everyone.....to respect the full spirit and intent of this Resolution; and BE IT FURI'HER RESOLVED, that the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect shall, without prejudice or discrimination. do all within its power and sphere of influence. to encourage fair treatment for all people, and will continue to do all it may lawfully to to enforce, in full, the Constitution of the United States. the State of Illinois, and the Ordinances and Resolutions of this Village, to insure that all persons shall have equal opportunity to purchase real estate and live in housing facilities of their choice without discrimination because of race, color. religion, or national origin or ancestry, which shall be accomplished in an orderly, lawful, and roper fashion. SECTION 2: This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from d after its passage and approval in the manner prescribed by law. AYES: 7 NAYS: 0 ASSED and APPROVED this 20th day of February.
