RESOLUTION NO. 5-68
WHEREAS t a consistent problem of flooding has existed in the area
of the Metropolitan Sanitary District for many years; and
WHEREAS, this flooding has and does continue to pose a threat to
the health of the citizens of this area; and
WHEREAS, this flooding has caused untold material damage and loss
to the residents and businesses of this area; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Sanitary District has had for many months
under consideration methods of correcting this flooding problem; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect lies within the areas
serviced by the Metropolitan Sanitary District;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY t ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount
Prospect urges the Metropolitan Sanitary District to enforce the rules and
policies of the Illinois Sanitary Water Board as is required by law
pertaining to stonn and sanitary sewers and water pollution; and further
urges the Metropolitan Sanitary District to take immediate steps to
~lement sane program such as a deep tunnel or other plan and give the
municipalities a definitive answer as to the kind and type of sewer outlets
which will be available and at what date to enable these nnmicipalities to
fulfill their obligations concerning the sewer and flooding problems in the
area.
SECTION TWO: This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
