HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 07-68 04/16/1968 RESOLUTION 7-68 A RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO THE PROPOSED NORTHWEST SUBURBIA MERGER WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect is an existing municipality in the northwest Cook County; and WHEREAS, in the year 1967 the Village of Mount Prospect celebrated its 50th Anniversary as a Village; and WHEREAS, the residents of the Village of Mount Prospect are proud of the distirct characteristics which the Village of Mount Prospect possesses; and "WHEREAS, certain elected officials of neighboring ccmnunities have suggested to the public a proposal for a merger of a number of municipalities in the northwest area of Cook County, including the Village of Mount Prospect, into one municipal entity; and "WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect have reviewed this proposal and find same not to be in the best interests of the residents of the Village of Mount Prospect; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNI' PROSPECT, COOK COUNrY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect do hereby officially go on record as being opposed to any municipal merger of the various ccmnunities in the northwest area of Cook County, including the Village of Mount Prospect, into one'municipal entity. SECTION 2: That the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect firmly believe that the best interests of the residents of th Village of Mount Prospect will be best served through the exerted efforts of its elected officials in maintaining the Village of Mount Prospect as an independent municipal entity. SECTION 3: That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to forward certified copies of this Resolution to the Northwest Municipal League and the Presidents and Mayors of the various municipalities contemplated in the suggested merger. SECTION 4: 'Ihat this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law. AYES: 6 NAYS: 0 PASSED this 16th day of April, 1968.
