RESOLUTION NO. 32 - 68
A RESOwrrON ESTABLISHING THE K>UNT PROSPECI'
INSURANCE Ca.1MISSIOO
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Mount Prospect are aware of the difficulties laymen encounter in their
attenpt to adequately protect the Village's interests and deal with insur-
ance brokers, agents and caIl)anies, and
WHEREAS, the Finance Corrmittee of the Board of Trustees of
the Village of Mount Prospect held a meeting a1 October 21, 1968. and
recOtl1Iended that a permanent. insurance carmission should be created because
of the inportant aid such a Corrmissia1 is to the said Finance Ccmm1ttee;
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Mount Prospect believe it to be in the best interest of the Village of
Mount Prospect;
NOil, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD
OF TRUsrEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MJUNT PRJSPECI'. COOK COUNTY. ILLINOIS:
SECI'IOO CNE: '!hat there is hereby established a citizens'
camnissia1 which shall be known as THE INSURANCE COMMISSION OF THE VILLAGE
OF MJUNT PRJSPECI' for the purpose of adequately determining and fulfilling
the insurance needs and protection for the municipal corporation of the
Village of Mount Prospect. and to work with the Finance Conmittee of the
Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect to carry out the said
purposes.
SECI'rON '!WO: That the voting roombership of the Insurance
Commission shall be conposed of three (3) residents of the Village of Mount
Prospect.
(a) The appointroonts to this Camnissioo shall be
made by the Village President with the advice
and coosent of the Board of Trustees and in
the detenninatioo of such appointnent. coo-
sideratia1 shall be g1 ven to the appointee's
knowledge of. and experience and background
in the insurance field.

(to The term of office to this Comnission
shall be for a period of three (3)
years. However, members appointed at
the onset shall serve as follCMs: One
(1) for a three (3) year term; cne (1)
for a two (2) year term; and one (1) for
a one (1) year term.
(c) In additicn to the three (3) voting
I1Embers of the Corrmission, the Director
of the ~partment of Finance of the
Village of Mount Prospect shall serve as
an ex-officio ment>ers aloog with that
Village Trustee who shall currently be
the Chainnan of the Finance Comm1 ttee of
the Village of M:>unt Prospect and who
shall also serve as an ex-officio member
of this Conmission.
(d) The Chairman of this Conmission shall be
chosen by the voting members of the Com-
mission for a period of one (1) year and
until his successor is named.
SECTION THFEE: That regular meetings of the Insurance Com-
missicn shall take place quarterly upon the first Wednesday of the m::mths of
June, September, ~cember and March of each year, at the hour of 8: 00 P. M.
in the Mount Prospect Village Hall. Special meetings may be called by the
Presiding Chairman of the Insurance Conm1ssion and any other member of the
said Canmission, whether voting or non-voting, acting in coocert and upon a
twenty-four (24) hour written notice to all other members of the Camnission
and the President and Board of Trustees of the Viilage of Mount Prospect.
(a) Minutes of all meetings of the Insurance
Contnissicn shall be kept in an orderly
fashion.
(b) Said Comnission shall make a report on its
progress and findings, and shall send the
same to the President and Board of Trustees
within thirty (30) days after each l1Eeting
of the Insurance Canm1ssion.
SECTION roUR: That the Insurance Conmission of the Village
of Mount Prospect shall be operative for an indefinite period of time -
until the purposes for which it is intended have been achieved.
