" \D5 AN ORDINANOE PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT AND OOMPENSATION FOR MEMBERS THEREOF, AND REPEAL- ING ALL FORMER ORDINANOES ON THAT SUBJEOT. BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, Oounty of Oook and Stateof Illinois: SEOTION 1. That a volunteer fire department be and the same is hereby established in said Village of Mount Prospect, which said volunteer fire department shall be in charge of the chief of said fire department, as hereinafter provided. SEOTION 2. The Ohief of the Fire Department shall be appointed by the President of the Board of Trustees, subject to , the confirmation by said Board of Trustees, and subject to the ~ ordinances of said village and resolutions of the Board of Trus- tees; he shall have sole and absolute control and command of all persons connected with the Fire Department of said village, and shall have full power and authority over its organization, government, and discipline, and shall have the custody of all machinery and appliances of the village for exti~guishing fires I a,nd may cause the same to be repaired whenever necessary. SEOTION 3. For servides rendered at each fire by members of' said Volunteer Fire Department, pay shall be as follows: Ohief - - - - - - - - - - $ Assistant Chief - - - - - Captains - - - - - - - - Firemen - - - - - - - - - ,,0/"' -\"..,. 4.00 3.00 2.50 2.00 each " In case of false alarms one-half of the above amount shall be paid. All members attending practice meeting shall receive as compensation the amount of fifty (50) cents per man. Board of Trustees shall furnish equipment and clothing for said F'ire Department as they may deem proper and necessary and shall furnish suitable quarters for said Fire Department to hold their meetings and store such equipment and clothing. ' . SECTION 4. Said Fire Department shall be governed by such rules and regulations, not inconsistent with the ordinances of this village, as they may adopt and which may also be ap- proved by the Board of Trustees. SECTION 5. It shall be the duty of all members of the Fire Department to prevent all persons excepting the village officers not belonging t.o the Fire Department from entering any house, or handling any fire apparatus belonging to the Fire Department of said village. SECTION 6. No person shall in any manner obstruct the use of any fire hydrant, cistern or well,' or have or place any- thing in front or within five feet on either side thereof, under penalty of ten dollars fine for each offense; and anything placed near a fire hydrant, cistern or well, so as to obstruct the tise of same, shall be immediately removed at the cost and risk of the owner thereof. lp " , ~ " Ii 'II " M ~ i. ,..., ,- 111'" . 'ft', ., SECTION 7. Every person who shall be present at a fire shall be subject and obedient to the orders of the Chief of the F'ire Department and his assistants, in extinguishing the fire and removing and protecting property; and in case any person shall refuse or neglect to obey such order, or orders, he shall be sub- ject to a fine of five dollars for each offense. Provided, that no person not a fireman shall be obliged to obey any such officer unless the officer shall be wearing his badge of office, or his official character is known or made known to him. SECTION 8. Any person who shall wilfully delay or obstruct any officer or fireman in the performance of his duty, or shall wilfully injure, deface, or destroy any engine or other fire apparatus of the village, shall be fined upon conviction tnereof, not less than five dollars nor more than one hundred dollars. SECTION 9. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in con- flict with this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 10. This ordinance shall be in full force and et'i'ect from and after its pa.ssa~, approval and..posttl.ng, and shal be known as Ordinance No. IDs:... .
