SICTION 1 - NAMES OF STREETS - The several streets, avenues and publio thoroughfares in the Village of .ount Prospect shall hereafteJbe known and de.1gnated by the names applied thereto re- spectively on the maps and records of said Village and as designated by the several ordinances hitherto in foroe fixing the names of such streets, avenues and thoroughfares. S~CTION 2 - lUMBERING BUILDINGS - PLAN - All buildings sit- uated or hereafter erected or located on any of the streets, avenues, thoroughfares and public highways (except alleys) within the Village of Yount Prospect, shall be numbered by the owners or owner, ooc~pan or occupants thereof, according to the following plan, viz: . ., First: Bouse,n~}),! S on the streets,. avenues, thoroughfares andpublio highways ~. . "Iorth and South shall begin at CENTRAL STREET and shall run from 'iber 1 upward on both sides of said CENTRAL STREIT on a unit bases of twenty-five (25) feet or less per number in blocks zoned for business or industrial purposes and fifty (50) feet or less per number in blocks zoned for residential purposes, the odd numbers to be placed on the east side and the even numbers to be plac'ed on the west side of said streets. The streets, avenues, thoroughfares and public hi ghwa.y s lying on the north side of said CENTRAL STREET shall be designated by their re- spective names with the word "North" prefixed thereto; those lying on the south side of said CENTRAL STREET shall be designated by their respective names with the word "South" prefixed thereto. Second: Bouse numbers on streets, avenues, thoroughfares and public highways running east and west shall begin at WI STREET and shall run from lumber 1 upward on both sides of said JUII STREET on a unit basis of twenty-five (25) feet or less per number in blocks zoned for business or industrial purposes and fifty (50) feet or less per number inb10cks zoned for residential purposes, the odd numbers to be placed on the south side and the even numbers to be placed on the north side of said streets. Said street a ex- tending east from said Yain Street shall be designated by their respective names with the word "East" prefixed thereto, and those extending west from said Main street shall be designated by their respective names with the word "West" prefixed thereto. ' Third: Such house numbers shall be so arranged that the num- bers in the first block in either direction of the abOJ. numbered ba$e or meridian streets shall run from 1 to not exceeding 99; that the numbers in the second block on either side of said base or meridian streets shall run from 101-t8 lot exceeding 199; ~nd in each succeeding block away from said base or meridian street the I numbers shall be increased by 100, keeping the numbers as nearly as possibly uniform on all streets with relation to distance from such I base or meridian streets. I I I I I 1 I I SICTION 3 - SIZE OF NUMBERS - The style and size of the figures for each number shall be uniform and shall be of the type seleoted and approved by the President and Board of Trustees of said Village and shall be of the type that can be easily and dis- -tinctly read. Said numbers shall be placed on, above or immed- iately to the side of the door, or else at some other and more conspicuous place on the front of the building where they may be easily seen and read, in order to serve the purpose for which they are intended. SECTION 4 - PLATS TO BE KEPT BY VILLAGE CLERK - For the purpose of facilitating correct enumeration, plats of all the streets, avenues, thoroughfares and public high~"8 within the Village~showing the proper number of all lots or houses fronting upon such streets, avenues, thoroughfares and publiC highways (except alleys), shall be prepared and kept on file in the offioe of the Village Clerk, whioh plats shall be open during the office hours of said Village Clerk to the inspection of any owner or oc- cupan~ of any building desiring to know the proper number of his or her building. SECTION 5 - PENALTY - Any person being the owner or occupant of any building now erected or that may be hereafter erected, who . shall for thirty days after notice 'by the Village Clerk, or other official directed so to do, of the proper number of such building, neglect or ret,use to number any building owned or occupied by him in conformity with the provisions of this Ordinance and with the plan for numbering buildin8s, as aforesaid, shall be subject to a penalty of THREE DOLLARS ('3.00), and a similar penalty for every thirty days thereafter that he shall neglect or refuse to number said building. SECTION 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publioation, according to law, and shall be known as Ordinance No. · Passed this ~d day Ofvt;;.
