HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/02/2009 SEC minutes Mount Prospect Special Events Commission Meeting Minutes Saturday, May 2, 2009 Village Hall - 9:00 a.m. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Tom Zander called the meeting to order at 9:01 a.m. Present: Janice Farley, Dawn Fletcher-Collins, Jill Friedrichs, Christine Greco, Martha Helm, Jim Uszler, Teresa VanOpdorp, Laury Youngquist and Tom Zander Absent: Sandy Dicaro, Eileen Gattas, Linda Hoefert, Kathy Janonis, Mike Janonis, Paul Seils APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Christina Greco, seconded by Martha Helm, moved to approve the minutes of the April 11,2009 meeting. Motion approved. FINANCIAL REPORT: Jill Friedrichs moved and Dawn Fletcher-Collins seconded to approve the Treasurer's Report of April 30, 2009. Motion approved. CURRENT BUSINESS: 1. Fine Arts Festival (June 20) a. 35 artists, down about 15. There are 13 new artists. b. 2 vendors have requested double spaces. c. The SEC is expending $650. For music. d. Advertising is being done by the Village. e. Blues Fest will be running in conjunction with the Festival. f. A volunteer sing-up sheet will be sent via e-mail to fill in work slots. 2. Do-It-Yourself Sousa (July 27) a. Picket Fence financially unable to finance flags. Motion made by Jill Friedrichs, seconded by Christina Greco that the Special Events Commission finance the flags for the Do-It-Yourself Sousa. Motion approved. Teresa VanOpdorp and Christina Greco will research costs. b. Laury Youngquist will assist Martha Helm photocopying music. c. A survey will be made of past participants to find out if there is interest in sending music out via e-mail. 3. 4th of July Parade a. Applications have been mailed out. b. Information and forms have been given to Maura EI Metennani to be included on the Village website. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Mount Prospect Community Band a. Will be hosting a band from Italy August 19-26. b. Looking for donations, host families, transportation and/or meals. c. SEe has been asked specifically to sponsor the opening reception for the guest band, Mount Prospect Community Band and host families. d. Martha Helm will send an e-mail to SEC members with further information. e. No decision by SEC has been made at this time.
