MOUNT PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION
Meeting Minutes
April 11 , 2009
9:00 a.m.
In attendance: Tom Zander, Jim Uszler, Kathy Janonis, Linda Hoeffert, Martha Helm,
Dale Draznin, Dawn Fletcher Collins
Absent: Laury Youngquist, Teresa VanOpdorp, Paul Seils, Mike Janonis, Christina Greco,
Eileen Gattas, Jill Friedrichs, Janice Farley, Sandy DiCaro
CALL TO ORDER: Meeting called to order by Chairman Tom Zander at 9:07 a.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes of February 14, 2009 meeting up for review. Moved for
approval by Dale Draznin, seconded by Kathy Janonis. Motion carried.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Current Treasurer's Report dated March 31, 2009 presented by Tom
Zander in Mike Janonis' absence. Tom Zander asked for approval of report as presented, those
in attendance agreed. Motion carried.
CURRENT BUSINESS DISCUSSION: Fine Arts Festival, June 20, 2009
Tom Zander read update/comments from Teresa VanOpdorp (absent). Kathy Janonis discussed
scholarship opportunities and follow up procedure in hopes of community awareness for more
applicants. Notice went to area high schools and both community colleges. Also discussed was
fine tuning for coordinating volunteer time/more efficiency.
NEW BUSINESS: Celestial Celebration Survey
Tom Zander discussed some surveys had been turned in and the value of the information.
Committee revisited some of the comments/highlights of changes for next year which included the
announcement of "award winners" to the public in advance of event.

Mayor's Prayer Breakfast - Thursday, May 7
Fine Arts Festival- Saturday, June 20
Fourth of July Parade
Downtown Block Party - Saturday, July 25
Do-It-Yourself-Sousa - Monday, July 27
