AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE
SALE OF SALACIOUS AND INDECENT
COMIC BOOKS AND LITERATURE.

! BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
I
Ii OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:

I or corporation to bring or cause to be brought into the Village
Ii of Mount Prospect for sale or exhibition, or shall sell or
I
I
I offer to sell, give away or offer to give away, or have in his,
I their or its possession, with or without intent to sell or give
I
iaway, any obscene and indecent book, pamphlet, paper, drawing,
I
!lithograph, engraving, daguerreotype photograph, stereoscopic
I
I picture, model, cast, instrument or article. of indecent use, or
I
I shall advertise the same for sale, or write or cause to be
I: written, or print or cause to be printed, any circular, hand-
I bill, card, bOOk, pamphlet, advertisement or notice of any kind,.

SECTION 1.
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm
I
i
I or shall give information orally, stating when, how or of whom,
i
!or by what means any of the said indecent and obscene articles
,
I; and things hereinbefore mentioned can be purchased or otherwise
I obtained, or shall manufacture, draw and expose or draw with
I
i intent to sell, or to have sold, or print any such articles;
I: including also, so-called comic books and magazines which are.
I salacious in character, glorify murder, protray gruesome and
I hideous tortures and which have a tendency to demoralize the
I
I: youth of this Village.
I
I SECTION 2. Any person, firm or corporation violating any
i
Ii; of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be fined not less than
I Ten Dollars ($10.00), nor more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00)
