HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 314 08/09/1949 --.-,' .1, , FMO*AGH llc5c 9/9/49 ORDINANCE NO.~ AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISmmNT, KAINTElANCB AllD CONDUCT OF A PLAYGROUND AND RE- CREATION SYSTEM AND THE ESTAB- LISHMENT OF A PLAYGROUID AWD RE- ~T.ION BO~. ****** JHEREAS--,- there was submitted to the electors of the Village of .ount Prospect, Illinois, at the regular election held on April 19, 1949, the following proposition: Shall the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois, establish, maintain and conduct a supervised playground and recrea- tion system ang levy an annual tax of not less than .025% on all taxab1.e property in the Village of-ount Prospect for the es- tab1.ishment, maintenance and conduct there- of, as provided for/in Article 57-7 of the Cities and Village$ Act? and ~EAS~ the President and Board of Trustees canvassed the results of said election and found and declared that the proposition received a majority of all of the votes cast on said proposition and that said proposition was declared adopted. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, THAT: SECTION 1. There 1s hereby established a Playground and Recreation system and an annual tax of not less than .025% shall be levied on all taxable property in the Village of Mount Pros- pect for the establishment, maintenance and conduct thereof, as provided for in Article 57-7 of the Cities and Villages Act. SECTION.& The pOller to provide _ maintain and conduct the playgrounds and recreation centers is hereby vested in a -2- Playground and Recreation Board. SECTION 3. There is hereby created and established a Playground and Recreation Board to consist of three (3) members who shall be appointed by the President with the consent of the Board of Trustees. Such members shall serve for a term of three (3) years or until their successors are appointed and have qualified;provided, however, that the members of the Board first appointed shall serve as follows:- one for one year, one for two years and one for three years and upon the expiration of their terms their successors shall be appointed for a term of three (3) years. If a vacancy occurs in the office of any board mem- ber, the President shall appoint a successor to serve for the unexpired term. All such members shall serve without compen- sation and shall possess all of the powers and be subject to all of the responsibilities set forth in the statute thereunto per- taining. E~CTION ~.
