AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING SNOW
REMOVAL FROM SIDEWALKS .

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND THE BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT~ COOK COUNTY6
ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1. That every owner6 lessee6 tenant, occupant
or other person having charge of any building or lot of ground
in the Village abutting upon any public way or public place,
shall remove the snow and ice from the sidewalk in front of
such building or lot ot ground.
In ease the snow and ice on the sidewalk
shall be frozen so that it cannot be removed without injury
to the pavement6 the person having charge of any building or
lot of ground, as aforesaid, shall within the time specified
cause the sidewalk abutting on the said premises to be strewn
with ashes, sand or some similar suitable material and shall
as soon thereafter as the weather shall permitt, thoroughly
clean said sidewalk.
The snow which falls or accumulates during
the day (except Sundays) before 4 Otclock in the atternoon,
shall be removed within three hours after the same has fallen
or accumulated. The snow which falls or accumulates on Sundays
or after 4 O'clock in the afternoon and during the night on
other days, shall be removed before 10 O'clock on the following
morning.
DCTION 2. That any person, firm or corporation vio-
lating the provisions of this Ordinance, shall upon conviction
thereof, be fined not more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00)
for each otfense.
SECTION 3. That this Ordinance shall be in full torce

and effect from and after its passagel approval and pub1ica-
tionl according to law.
