AM ORI>INANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 OF
CHAP'fE1l 1 OF '!'HE MOUNT PROSPECT
BUILDING CODB OF 1938.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OJ! THE VILLAGE OF MOOT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1. That section 2 of Chapter 7 of the Mount
Prospect BuIldIng COde of 1938 (ordinance No. 225) be and the
same is hereby amended to read as follows:
Chimney and Flue Construction:
2. Chimneys hereinafter erected, except as other-
wise provided, shall be wholly supported on and
be constructed of approved masonry or reinforced
concrete and shall extend from the ground up to
at least three feet ab0ve tt1etJighest point at
which they come in contact J'{itb a root of the
building and at least two feet higbtr than any
ridge within 10 feet of such chimney and be
properly capped with terra cotta, stone, cement
or other approved incombustible waterproof
material. HollOW building tile shall not be used
for walls of isolated or independent chimneys
but may be used tor chimneys in connection with
an exterior hollow tile wall of a building if
at least 8 inches in thickness and lined with
tile flue lining.
SECTIO~ 2. That this ordinance shall be in full force
and effect upon Its passage, approval and publication according
to law.
