HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 595 01/14/1958 ~/r ..'. ORDINANCE NO. 5' 7~:) AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTIONS 23.301 AND 23.302 OF CHAPmt 23 OF THE MOOI- CIP AL CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT OF 1957 AS AMENDED. WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the Village of Mount Prospect believe it desirable that the Village re- tain ownership of water meters and that water users pay a rental charge for the use of said water meters; and that additiQnal costs are incurred to the Village in the main- tenance and replacement of water meters which cost should be borne by the consumer, NOW, 'ffiEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY TEE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VIILAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: Section 1: That Chapter 23, Article III, Section 23.301 of the Municipal Code of Mount Prospect of 1957 as amended, be and the same is hereby amended to and shall hereafter read as follows: "Section 23.301 Meters Required. Before any premises are occupied a Village-owned water meter shall be installed therein or application made for such installation, as hereinafter spe- cified, and no water shall be furnished suCh premises in the absende of said installation or application. ' "All premises using the Village water supply must be equipped with an adequate Village-owned water meter to be furnished, installed and main- tained by the Village at the cost and expense of the consumer, provided, however, that water may be supplied by the Village at a flat rate of charge between the time 0 f the afore said appli- cation and the date When such meter is connectedo" Section 2: That Chapter 23, Article III, Section 23.302 of the Municipal Code of Mount Prospect of 1957 as amended, be and the same is hereby amended to and shall hereafter read as follows: "Section 23.302 Charges. - Connection, Rental, Maintenance. The charge for connecting a 5/8" water meter, including a flat rental and charge for ordinary maintenance and repair during the life thereof, shall be $50.00 -2- "The charge for connecting a disc meter larger than 518ft and not larger than 2", including a flat rental and charge for ordinary maintenance and repair for the life thereof, shall be estab- lished bI the Village Superintendent of Water. The charge for connecting a 2" or larger turbine, compound or line meter, including a flat rental shall be established by the Village Super- intendent of Water, and the cost and expense of necessary maintenance and repairs made by the Village during the life of said meter shall be charged to the consumer when incurred. It Section 3: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after ten days subsequent to its passage, approval and publication according to law. Section 4: That all ordinances or parts of ordi- nances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed, reserving however, to the Village of MOlmt Pros- pect any rights which have accrued to it against any person, firm or corporation under any ordinance or sections of ordi- nances which may be and are hereby repealed.
