HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 601 03/25/1958 ORDINANCE NO. .601 -- AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTIONS 13 and 31.1 OF CHAPTER VIII AND SECTION 2 of CHAPTER IX OF THE MOm~T PROSPECT BUILDING CODE OF 1957 AS AMENDED BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: Section 1: That Section 13, Chapter VIII, of the Mount Prospect Building Code of 1957 as amended, be and the same is hereby amended to and shall hereafter read as follows: "13.1 The allowable span of roof rafters shall be measured from plate to ridge, except where raf- ters are supported by a bearing wall or a complete truss is formed. The span shall be considered as the distance between intersecting points of trussing. 13.2 Collar Beams (minimum size 1" by 6" or 2" by 4") (A) Gable roofs - on every third rafter. (B) Hip roofs-on 1/3 of common (long span) rafters. (C) Braces to bearing wall may be used instead of collar beams. 13.3 The allowable rafter span in rafter table above may be increased by 10% if collar beams are used on every long span rafter." Section 2: That the first sentence of Section 31.1 of Chapter VIII of the Building Code of Mount Prospect of 1957 as amended, be and the same is hereby amended to and shall hereafter read as follows: "In all specifications for concrete, reinforced and/or otherwise, a 5 bag mix shall be the mlnlmum for any work in addition to all other specifications in this or other ordinances pertaining to concrete work." Section 3: That Section 2 under Part A (entitled "Ordinary Construction") of Chapter IX of the Building Code of Mount Prospect of 1957 as amended, be and the same -2- is hereby amended by deleting the last sentence thereof, and which said Section 2 shall hereafter read as follows: "2. All floor joist and roof rafters shall be not less than 2 inches in thickness, of a size and at centers to properly carry the imposed loads." Section 4: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication according to law. Section 5: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed, reserving however, to the Village of Mount Prospect any rights which have accrued to it against any person, firm or corporation under any ordinance or sections of ordinances which may be and are hereby repealed.
