HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 45-93 11/16/1993 RESOLUTION NO. /45 - 9 3 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE ANNUAL COMPREHENSIVE HOUSING AFFORDABILITY STRATEGY FOR 1994 WE[EREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect is a recipient of Community Development Block Grant funds; and WBEREAS, the V'fllage of Mount Prospect has prepared a Comprehensive Housing Affordability Strategy which identifies the housing needs of low and moderate-income residents, as well as those of special groups; and WHEREAS, in conjunction with the Comprehensive Housing Affordability Strategy Program, the needs of the community must be reviewed and updated on an annual basis; and WHEREAS, the Plan Commission of the Village of Mount Prospect has reviewed the proposed Comprehensive Housing Affordability Strategy for 1994. WBlgREAS, the Plan Commission of the Village of Mount Prospect has determined that the Comprehensive Housing Affordability Strategy for 1994 is consistent with the Five Year plan, as established by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect through the adoption of Resolution 38-91 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect do hereby support the following housing affordab'flity priority areas identified for the year 1994: To continue to work with a not-for-profit developer in the development of a senior citizen's housing apartment development in the downtown area: To address the special needs of elderly Iow-income and very low-income residents by promoting a shared senior housing program, rehabilitating senior citizen homes and by using rental assistance payment programs; To provide housing opportunities for first-time home buyers by working with local private lenders and others in assembling financial packages and educational programs to assist low-income households to purchase residential homes; To identify the promotion of fmancial rental assistance programs using HUD Section 8 Certificates and Voucher Programs as well as using funds from the HOME Program for Mount Prospect residents; and To provide financial assistance for the purchase or rehabilitation of housing for the mentally ill. SECTION TWO: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect fi.om and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
