HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 02-94 01/18/1994 2-94 RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF DR. STEPHEN D. BERRY WHEREAS, the youth of Mount Prospect and the northwest suburbs are served by educators and facilities provided by High School District 214; and WHEREAS, DR. STEPHEN D. BERRY has served in the position of Superintendent of High School District 214 since 1986, having served as Acting Superintendent since 1985; and WHEREAS, DR. STEPHEN D. BERRY has spent his entire adult life in the field of education, from his first teaching position in 1956 as a biology teacher in Michigan through and including the many advancements to his present position as Superintendent; and WHEREAS, DR. STEPHEN D. BERRY has been a member of numerous community organizations, having been a charter member of RAPP and PACA, which organizations place an emphasis on developing methods and programs to prevent the expansion of gang activities in the northwest suburbs; and WHEREAS, DR. STEPHEN D. BERRY has been the recipient of awards for excellence throughout his career for his achievements in the field of education as well as his leadership and service to community; and WHEREAS, in addition to his many contributions as an educator, DR. STEPHEN D. BERRY has also given generously of his time, having served as a vice president and volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, Northwest Suburban Council, for 23 years, as well as serving with other civic organizations; and WHEREAS, following his 38 year career in education DR. STEPHEN D. BERRY will retire in 1994. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect as well as the residents of the Village do hereby extend appreciation to DR. STEPHEN D. BERRY on the occasion of his retirement and do further wish happiness, good health and enjoyment in his retirement. SECTION TWO: That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to DR. STEPHEN D. BERRY. SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
