RESOLUTION NO. 28-94
A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE SPRINT/CENTRAL ('CENTEL')
$6,300,000 INCREASE IN SERVICE RATES
WHEREAS, Central Telephone Company of Illinois ("Centel") is an Illinois Corporation
engaged in the business of providing telecommunications services to the public; and
WHEREAS, Central Telephone Company of Illinois ("Centel") is a telecommunications
carrier within the meaning of Section 13-202 of the Public Utlifies Act, and is therefore
under the jurisdiction of the Illinois Commerce Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Illinois Commerce Commission recently granted Central Telephone
Company of Illinois a $6,300,000 increase in local service rates; and
WHEREAS, on behalf of the residents of the Village of Mount Prospect being served
by Central Telephone Company ("Centel") the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Mount Prospect do hereby express strong opposition to this rate increase.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees do hereby express strong
opposition to the recent increase in service rates granted to Central Telephone
Company of Illinois ("Centel") by the Illinois Commerce Commission.
SECTION TWO: That the Village Clerk oft_he Village of Mount Prospect is hereby
authorized to forward copies of this Resolution to the Citizen's Utility Board, the Illinois
Commerce Commission, and to Governor James Edgar, in an effort to have the Illinois
Commerce Commission rescind the increase in rates.
SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
