HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 46-94 12/06/1994 RESOLUTION NO. 46-94 WHEREAS, the Marching Blue Knights of Prospect High School, which consists of more than 120 musicians and 30 members of the Rhythmettes, dedicate hours of their time to practice and participate as a member of the bands; and WHEREAS, the excellence of the Marching Blue Knights Band has been acknowledged in many ways, including invitations to participate in the following prestigious events: the Rose Bowl Parade, the Wodd Parade on New Year's Eve in London, England, the St. Patdcks' Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland, and even provided the half-time entertainment during a Chicago Bears football game; and WHEREAS, during the 1994 Marching Season, the Marching Blue Knights Band and Rhythmettes have earned the following: First Place in the Triple A Lake Park Contest, Third Place in the Tdple A Midwest Regionals, Grand Champion in the Cavaliers Festival, Grand Champion in the Chicagoland March Festival, Ninth in the Bands of America Competition, which includes bands from throughout the entire nation, and, for the 6th consecutive year, the March Blue Knights Band and Rhythmettes were the recipient of the Governors' Trophy in the Illinois Marching Band Competition; and WHEREAS, the Marching Blue Knights Band and Rhythmettes are extremely fortunate to have the support of the families, including the Booster Club, the community, the many volunteers, who provide a vadety of services necessary for the successful tours, transportation, nutrition, and the basic 'creature comforts' necessary to enable participation in all these events, as well as the hardworking, dedicated "Uniform Moms" who guarantee clean, crisp uniforms for every member of the Band; and WHEREAS, David Morrison and his wife Judy are the driving force behind the Marching Blue Knights Band providing direction and encouragement, which have resulted in their continuous success; and WHEREAS, the residents of the Village of Mount Prospect are So very proud of the Marching Blue Knights Band and Rhythmettes for their continued excellence, both as individual members of this organization and as a unit. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, on behalf of the residents of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby express sincere congratulations to David Morrison and the Marching Blue Knights Band and Rhythmettes on their many accomplishments and yet another award winning year as well as congratulations and appreciation to everyone involved with this wonder[ul program. SECTION TWO: That a copy of this Resolution be presented to representatives of the Marching Blue Knights Band of Prospect High School. SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
