HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 35-95 11/08/1995 CAF/ 11/8/95 RESOLUTION NO. 35-95 A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE NONPARTISAN ELECTION OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT HELD NOVEMBER 7, 1995 WHEREAS, the Nonpartisan Election was held on November 7, 1995 with the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois, presenting the following two referendum questions for the electors of the Village to consider: ~'R'eferendum Question No. 1 Shall the Village Board of Mount Prospect establish procedures permitting the Recall of officials elected to the office of Village President (Mayor) and Village Trustee of the Village of Mount Prospect? Referendum Question No. 2 Shall the annual library tax of the Mount Prospect Public Library be increased from .28% of full fair cash value to .47% of full cash value of all taxable property, as equalized or assessed by the Illinois Department of Revenue, to pay principal of and interest on general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $9,500,000 to be issued by the Village of Mount Prospect for renovation and expansion of the Mount Prospect Public Library and to pay for operation and maintenance of the expanded facility? WHEREAS, the local Canvassing Board has conducted the official canvass and presented the results. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: That pursuant to the Consolidated Election Laws of the State of Illinois, a regular election was held for the Village of Mount Prospect, Tuesday, November 7, 1995. SECTION TVVO: That an official canvass was conducted by the Local Canvassing Board for the two (2) referendum questions appearing on the ballot for the Village of Mount Prospect, which canvass declares a total of 7,202 ballots having been cast in said election and the results of the referendum questions as follows: Referendum Question No. 1 Shall the Village Board of Mount Prospect establish procedures permitting the Recall of officials elected to the office of Village President (Mayor) and Village Trustee of the Village of Mount Prospect? Yes 3,254 No 3,824 SECTION THREE: That inasmuch as Referendum Question No. 1 received the greatest number of affirmative votes, the Question is declared passed and inasmuch as Referendum Question No. 2 received the greatest number of negative votes, the Question is declared failed. SECTION FOUR: That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Cook County Clerk Election Department and the State Board of Election Commissioners, as provided by law. SECTION FIVE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
