AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 18 (TRAFFIC CODE)
OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, I~LINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That Chapter 18 (Traffic Code) of the Village Code
of Mount Prospect, as amended, is hereby further amended by adding
a new Section 18.100; so that hereinafter said Section 18.100 shall
be and read as follows:
" Sec. 18.100. ~doption by Reference of the Illinois
Vehlcle Code
The Illinois Vehicle Code, also known as Illinois Revised
Statutes, Ch. 95-1/2, is hereby adopted by reference in its
eDtirety, along with any and all subsequent amendments
thereto, as though fully set forth in this Chapter 18. Unless
otherwise specified in this Chapter 18, the penalties and all
administrative revocation or suspension procedures are
included in this adoption by reference. Any proceeding
resulting from a violation of an Illinois Vehicle Code
regulation, written as a violation of the Village Code of
Mount Prospect, shall be deemed to be a civil matter for
purposes of burden of proof and rules of court. The only
exceptions to this shall be citations written for offenses
permitting incarceration as a penalty or if the Illinois
Vehicle Code specifies otherwise.
The fact that a particular activity is proscribed or regulated
in both the Illinois Vehicle Code and another Section of
Chapter 18 shall not affect either the validity of this
adoption by reference or the validity of the Village Code of
Mount Prospect regulation.
Any regulation found in the Illinois Vehicle Code may be cited
as a regulation of the Village Code of Mount Prospect by
placing before it the number 18- (For example,-Section
ll-601(a) of the Illinois Vehicle Code would be Section 18-
~1-601(a) as a section of the Village Code of Mount
Prospect)."
SECTION TWO: That all Ordinance or parts of Ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION THREE: That this Ordinance shall be in full .force and
effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in
pamphlet form as provide by law.
