HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 620 07/15/1958 ORDINANCE NO. 6~ AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 4 OF ORDINANCE NO. 518 ENTITLED,lIAN ORDI- NANCE providing for the installation regulation and control of the use of parking meter signs, defining parking meter zones and providing for the en- forcement and penalty for violation thereof.lI vffiEREAS, the corporate authorities of the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois, on October 2, 1956 adopted Ordinance No. 518 to provide for the installation, regulation and control of the use of parking meter signs, and the establishing of parking meter zones; and WHEREAS, since the aforesaid establishment of said parking meter zones, a survey has determined that the obliga- tions theretofore imposed upon the said Village of Mount Prospect insofar as certain leases on the property used for parking meter zones and revenue bonds issued in connection therewith, will not be impaired; and WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the Village of Mount Prospect believe it to be in the best interests of said Village and will in~rove the public welfare and public safety if certain modifications of the parking requirements set out in Section 4 of Ordinance No. 518 are adopted so as to permit certain free parking time on Saturdays and Sundays, N0\1, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: Section 1: That Section 4 of Ordinance No. 518 entitled, lIAN ORDINANCE providing for the installation regulation and control of the use of parking meter signs; defining parking meter zones and providing for the enforce- ment and penalty for violation thereof,lI passed and approved October 2, 1956, be and the same is hereby amended to and - 2 - shall hereafter read as follows: ltSECTION 4: There are hereby established certain parking zones to be known as parking meter zones. Park- ing meters shall be installed to conform to the parking time limits as are hereby established by this ordinance, or which may hereafter be established. Except as here- inafter provided parking time limits on weekdays, except holidays, Saturdays and Sundays, shall be from the hours of 6:00 A. M. to 6:00 P. M. On Saturday and Sunday ~he parking time limits shall be two (2) hours for which there shall be no charge; provided, however, this provision does not apply to any person paying the rates required for the parking meter on Saturday or Sunday. The following days shall be designated as holidays: January 1, May 30, July 4, Labor Day, Thanks- giving Day, and December 25. If any of these days shall fall on Sunday and be observed on Monday, then the Mon- day will be considered as a holiday for the purposes of this ordinance. The Chief of Police shall cause signs to be posted in said area indicating the aforesaid regu- lations.lt Section 2: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication according to law. Section 3: That all ordinances or parts of ordi- nances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby re- pealed, reserving however, to the Village of Mount Prospect any rights which have accrued to it against any person, firm or corporation under any ordinance, or sections of ordinances - 3 - which may be and are hereby repealed.
