A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MOUNT PROSPECT VILLAGE BOARD
TO PLACE THE SISTER CITIES COMMISSION ON IN -ACTIVE STATUS
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF
MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS ACTING IN THE EXERCISE OF THEIR
HOME RULE POWERS:
SECTION ONE: The Village Board adopted Ordinance No. 5095 on March 22, 2000
establishing the Sister Cities Commission of the Village of Mount Prospect to promote and
enhance the Village's participation in the Sister Cites International Organization, to maintain any
relationship the Village might establish with a sister city and to promote goodwill and
international understanding.
SECTION TWO: The Sister Cities Commission did establish a mutually rewarding, cultural
relationship with the City of Sevres, France that lasted over twenty years.
SECTION THREE: A regular meeting of the Sister Cities Commission was held July 20, 2023,
to discuss the future of the commission.
SECTION FOUR: As provided in Article II, Section 206.G of Chapter 5 of the Village Code, the
Village Board, may place any non -statutory board on inactive status by resolution and upon
ninety (90) days written notice to the commission chair.
SECTION FIVE: It has been determined that the purpose of the Sister Cities Commission as
provided in Article XV, Sister Commission of Chapter 5, "Boards and Commissions" of the
Village Code of Mount Prospect has been successfully completed and therefore, shall be placed
on in -active status.
SECTION SIX: This Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon its passage and approval in
the manner provided by law.
