Lisa Angell Phone: 847/392-6000 Fax: 847/392-6022 TDD: 847/392-6064 www.mountprospect.org Village of Mount Prospect 50 South Emerson Street, Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056 MINUTES COFFEE WITH COUNCIL Saturday, August 9,2008 Community Center, Village Hall The meeting convened at 9:09 a.m. Village Board members present were Mayor Wilks and Trustees Hoefert and Polit. Representing staff was Village Manager Michael Janonis and Finance Director David Erb. Residents in Attendance Andrew & Doug Baar Bill Millar Carol Tortorello Tom and Chris Psihogios David Schein Ken Koeppen Mike Sweeney Maple Street Central Road South Elmhurst Avenue Wille Street Na-Wa-Ta Avenue South Linneman Road Golf Road Mayor Wilks opened the meeting with general remarks and introduced Trustees and staff in attendance. Wilks then moved to the resident portion of the meeting. Andrew and Doug Barr - The Barr brothers were in attendance to earn their "Citizenship in the Community Merit badge for the Boy Scouts of America. Bill Millar - Mr. Millar did not have anything to bring forward. He was in attendance to stay in touch with the current happenings of the Village. Carol Tortorello, South Elmhurst - Ms. Tortorello had follow-up questions regarding an item that appeared on the August 5 Village Board meeting agenda having to do with lot coverage and zoning requirements. Village Board members and staff discussed the options for compliance and what was needed for the next reading set for August 19. Ms. Tortorello also asked about a successor for Joe Mitchell Buick which will be closing its doors for business. Staff shared with the group the reasons for the closing of the business and what options are available on the site. Tom and Chris Psihogios, North Wille - The Psihogios' were in attendance to learn how the Village conducts business. They had questions related to the redevelopment of Randhurst and the timing of the construction. Staff discussed the timing for construction activity. The Psihogios' also asked about the Community Appreciation Day held at Arlington Race track and whether the Village would consider sponsoring such an event. The Mayor stated that at this time the Village was not considering participating in the Community Appreciation Day program. Ken Koeppen, South Linneman - Mr. Koeppen had shared some history related to Linneman Road and the right-of-way that runs up to his property. Mr. Koeppen also mentioned the rough condition of the road and whether there were plans to repair it in the near future. Staff would follow up on the status of Linneman repairs. David Schein, Na-Wa-Ta Avenue - Mr. Schein brought several items to Trustees and staff to discuss. Mr. Schein mentioned the agenda item on lot coverage and zoning requirements from the August 5 Village Board Meeting. This item had been discussed in detail earlier in the meeting. Mr. Schein also brought forward the question of whether a permit was needed to set off fireworks on Mount Prospect Park District properties. Staff would look into the requirements for a permit. Mr. Schein also brought up that a sign noting Neighborhood Watch was unintentionally removed as part of the traffic signage plan for the area surrounding his home. The sign was located in the 500 block of Na-Wa-Ta. Public Works was going to be notified to have this sign replaced. Mike Sweeney, Golf Road - Mr. Sweeney introduced himself to the group and stated that he was running for elected office (Illinois State Senate, 33rd District). He was sitting in on the meeting to take in the issues of the community. Mr. Sweeney did not have anything else to bring forward.
