HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 647 12/02/1958 ~ ORDINANCE NO. ,1/1 AN ORDINANCE TO AI~ND SECTION 20.201 OF ARTICLE II, CHAPTER 20 OF THE rmlNICIPAL CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT OF 1957, AS AMENDED HHEREAS, it has been determined by the corporate author- i ties of the Village of r,fount Prospect that it is in the best interests of efficient administration to require that regis- tration for dog licenses be accomplished within thirty (30) days after the first (1st) day of January in each year rather than within thirty (30) days after the first (1st) day of May, NOH, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILL~GE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: Section 1: That Section 20.201 of Article II, Chapter 20 .of the r,1unicipal Code of r.fount Prospect of 1957 as amended, be .. and the same is hereby amended to and shall hereafter read as follows: "Section 20.201 License - Fee. Every person who owns or keeps a dog within the village shall report to the Village Clerk annually within thirty days after the 1st day of Jan- uary in each year, his or her name and address, and shall at the same time the name, breed, color and sex of each and every dog owned or kept by such person within the village and shall pay to the Village Clerk a sum of three dollars for each male dog, the sum of three dollars for each sp,ayed female dog and five dollars for each female dog so owned or so kept and shall cause such dog or dogs to be registered for license in the office of the Village Clerk. Upon the pay- ment to the Clerk of the fee herein provided for to the Clerk, he shall furnish to the person paying such fee a license tag and number of registry for each dog for which such fee has been paid. "The Village Clerk shall provide each and every year such number of metal badges as may be necessary, of such size and shape as he shall deem expedient, having stamped thereon the words "Dog License" and the number indicating the year for which the tax is paid and it shall be the duty of the Village Clerk to deliver one of such metal badges to the person paying the tax upon any such dog at the time of pay-ment. " - 2 - "Every person keeping or maintaining any dog so licensed shall keep and maintain a collar around the neck of the dog with the metal badge, as~~~~in~befQ~e described, securely fastened thereto, and every dog found in the village without such badge shall be deemed an unlicensed dog, and shall be so disposed of by the Chief of Police or other Police Officer of the village as hereinafter provided. II Section 2: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publica- tion according to law. Section 3: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed, reserving however, to the Village of Mount Prospect any rights which have accrued to it against any person, firm or corporation under any ordinances, or sections of ordinances which may be and are hereby repealed.
