AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 23 ARTICLE
I OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
OF 1957 BY ADDING THERETO SECTION 23.111
"RESTRICTION ON USE OF WATER"
WHEREAS~ the corporate authorities of the Village
of Mount Prospect deem it essential in the public interest
and to protect the public health, safety and general welfare
of the residents of the Village of Mount Prospect that pro-
visions be set forth in the Municipal Code of the Village
of Mount Prospect to prohibit the use of water for sprink-
ling during a fire and also to authorize the Village Manager~
in case of emergency caused by either mechanical failure in
the operation of any well, or water shortage~ to impose im-
mediate restrictions on sprinkling and non-essential use of
water,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT
AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT~ COOK
COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
Section 1: That Chapter 23~ Article I of the
Municipal Code of Mount Prospect of 195'( be and the same
is hereby amended by adding thereto the following Section:
"Section 23.111 Restriction on Use of Water.
(a) All sprinkling is prohibited during
a fire and no person shall at any time, with-
out proper authority~ take any water from a
fire hydrant.
(b) In case of mechanical failure of
any of the wells providing water for the Vil-
lage or in case of a water shortage, the Vil-
lage Manager, upon declaring an emergency
exists~ shall be authorized to impose immediate
restrictions upon the use of water for sprink-
ling."
Section 2: The penalty provisions provided in
Section 23.109 shall be and the same are hereby made appli-
cable to Section 23.111.
Section 3: That this Ordinance shall be in full
force and effect from and after its passage~ approval and

publication according to law.
Section 4: That all ordinances or parts of ordi-
nances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby re-
pealed, reserving however, to the Village of Mount Prospect
any rights which have accrued to it against any person, firm
or corporation under any ordinance or sections of ordinances
which may be and are hereby repealed.
