AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ARTICLE XIX, TAXI-
CABS, OF CHAPTER 15 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE
OF MOUNT PROSPECT OF 1957 AS AMENDED BY
AMENDING SECTIONS 15.1910 AND 15.1915
THEREOF
WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the Village
of Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois, have determined
that it is in the public interest to have common carrier
service available twenty-four (24) hours a day in order to
provide service to the community, and do find that it is
necessary for the protection of public health, safety and
welfare to make adequate provision for such service,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT
AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK
COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
Section 1: That Section 15.1910 of Chapter 15 of
the Municipal Code of Mount Prospect of 1957 as amended, be
and the same is hereby amended to and shall hereafter read
as foIbws:
"Section 15.1910 Revocation of license. The
Village Board may revoke any license issued here-
under for violation of or a failure to comply with
any of the provisions of this Article or for a
violation of any State of Illinois or Village traf-
fic ordinance; provided, however, that revocation
for violation of Section l5.l9l5(b) shall not be
made unless and until such violation continues for
a period of five days after written notice thereof
to the licensee by the Village Clerk.
"lf any taxicab hereunder shall become unsafe
for the transportation of passengers or unsightly
in appearance, the license for said taxicab may be
suspended by the Chief of Police until the said
vehicle is put in fit condition for public use.
"It shall be the duty of the Chief of Police
to inspect every vehicle licensed hereunder a suffi-
cient number of times each year to insure compliance
with the provisions of this Article."

Section 2:
That Section 15.1915 of Chapter 15 of
the Municipal Code of Mount Prospect of 1957 as amended, be
and the same is hereby amended to and shall hereafter read
as follows by redesignating the former Section 15.1915 as
Section l5.l9l5(a) and by adding Section l5.l9l5(b) Opera-
tion, which said Section shall read as follows:
"Section l5.l9l5(a) Refusal to carry passen-
gers. No owner, operator or driver of any vehicle
licensed as aforesaid, shall refuse to convey in
said village, any person without or with hand bag-
gage as aforesaid, when applied to for that pur-
pose; or having undertaken to convey such person,
shall omit or neglect to do so, under penalty of
Ten ($10.00) Dollars for each offense.
I'Sec tion 15. 1915 (b) Oper at ion. Every taxicab
hereafter licensed under the provisions of this
Article shall be operated so as to provide taxicab
service twenty-four (24) hours of each day during
the term of such license, excepting those periods
of time where such service is rendered impossible
due to strikes, act of God, or causes beyond the
control of the licensee."
Section 3: That this Ordinance shall be in full
force and effect from and after its passage, approval and
publication according to law.
Section 4: That all ordinances or parts of ordi-
nances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby re-
pealed, reserving however, to the Village of Mount Prospect
any rights which have accrued to it against any person, firm
or corporation under any ordinance or sections of ordinances
which may be and are hereby repealed.
