ORDINANCE NO. 7bJ
AN ORDINANCE TO Al'1END CHAPTER III OF
THE HOUNT PROSPECT BUILDING CODE OF
1957 AS AHENDED
t~1EREAS, the corporate authorities of the Village
of Mount Prospect deem it desirable to amend paragraph 4
and paragraph 19 of Chapter III Permit Requirements - Bonds,
Fees, Plans, of the Mount Prospect Building Code of 1957
as amended,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT
AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT,
COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
Section 1: That paragraph 4 of Chapter III of
the Mount Prospect Building Code of 1957, as amended, be
further amended to and shall hereafter read as follows:
04. Building permits are issued with the
understanding that construction shall start
within thirty (30) days after issuance of the
permit and be carried to completion within one
(1) year. If building operations are not
started within sixty (60) days after issuance
of the permit, or if after building operations
have been started, such operations shall cease
for a period of thirty (30) days, such building
permit shall automatically expire and the permit
fee shall be forfeited to the Village. However,
if owner can show good cause for failure to start
or continue building operations, or inability to
carry building to completion within one (1) year,
the Village Board may reinstate such permit with-
out further payment of permit fee."
Section 2: That paragraph 19 of Chapter III Per-
mit Requirements - Bonds, Fees, Plans, of the Mount Prospect
Building Code of 1957, as amended, be further amended to and
shall hereafter read as follows:
"19. Fees are to be paid at the time permit
is issued. Temporary permit fees are to be esti-
mated and final adjustment of the fees to be made

at the time regular permit is issued. The fees
to be charged for a general building permit for
the erection or alteration of a building or
structure (not including certain water fees or
other miscellaneous fees or permits as set forth
elsewhere in this ordinance) are to be based upon
the estimated total cost of work covered by the
permit and shall be as follows:

Section 3: That this Ordinance shall be effective
from and after its passage and approval according to law.
Section 4: That all ordinances or parts of ordi-
nances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby re-
pealed, reserving however, to the Village of Mount Prospect
any rights which have accrued to it against any person, firm
or corporation under any ordinances or sections of ordinances
which may be and are hereby repealed.
