ANORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A FIRE~1ENt S PENSION FUND
AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO At~<1INISTER SAME
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect pre~nt11 has a popu-
lation greater than 5,000 and less than 200,000 as established by its
last }i'ederal Cel'\.sus, and
r.'HEREAS, the Village of l>1ount Prospect during the course of the
last year has hired paid firemen and is thereby establishing a paid
Fire Department, and
WHEREAS, the laws of the State or Illinois provide for the
establishment of a Firemen's Pension Fund and a Board or Trustees to
administer same in such esses,
NOW, THERE},l"ORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board ot
Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois:
Section 1. That the Municipal Corle of Mount Prospect is hereby
amended ~y aadtMi thereto the follow1~~ to Chapter 5 thereof:
"Article IX. Section 5.901. Establishment of Firemen's Pension
Fund. There shall be established a Firemen's Pension Fund for the
regular paid firemen of the Village ot Mount Prospect in accordance with
Chapter 24, Section 918 of the Illinois Revised Statutes.
"Section 5.902. Trustees of ?iremen's Pension Fund.
There shall be a Firemen's Pension Fund Board of Trustees consisting of
not more than eight (8) member trustees. The tollowi.ng elected and
appointed officials shall be Trustees of said Fund so long as they shall
hold the offices designated;
"President of the Village
Village Clerk
Village Attorney
Chief of the Fire Department.
In addition to the foregoing, the active members ot the paid Fire Depart-
ment shall choose three (3) Trustees, and the retired firemen, if alijl",
shall choose one of their number to act as a Trustee. Said Trustees
shall be chosen in such a manner and for such terms as is provided by
law (Chapter 24, Secti.on 919 of the Illinots Revised Statutes).
"Section 5.903. Powers and Duties of the Trustees.
It shall be the duty of th~ Board ot Trustees ot the Firemen's Pension
Fund to I'lan&ll!;e, invest and control the Firements Pension Fund and all
moneys pertain in, thereto it'! such manner as provided by law. and they
shall have such further duties and powers as are provided by Chapter 24,
Section 920, Illinois Revised Statutes.
"Section 5.904. Officers.
At the first meeting ot the Board ot Trustees of the Firemen's Pension
Fund they shall elect from their number a President and Secretary, and
shall a.ppoint a Treasurer. Said officers to hold oftice and shall have
such authority to act for said Board of Trustees on such terms and in
such manner as said Board of.' Trustees may provide and as provided by la\-I."

Section 2. That this ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval according to law.
