OPEN SESSION MINUTES
1 CHAIRMAN POWERS CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 3:02 PM AT THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
CONFERENCE ROOM
2 Roll Call: James Powers, Chairman
Mark Busse, Commissioner
Jeanna Claussen, Commissioner
Staff Present: Thomas Wang, Deputy Fire Chief
Michael Vena, Battalion Chief
Michael Eterno, Police Chief
Joseph Garris, Deputy Police Chief
3 CITIZENS TO BE HEARD – Former Village of Mount Prospect Firefighter/Paramedic Lloyd Miller was present
to voice complaints regarding his dismissal. After some comments, Fire Chief Dolan agreed to discuss the
situation outside of the meeting. Miller agreed.
4 CLOSED SESSION – CHAIRMAN POWERS ASKED FOR A MOTION TO GO INTO CLOSED SESSION
4.1 Personnel 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1) - The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance,
or dismissal of specific employees of the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged
against an employee of the public body for the public body to determine its validity.
4.2 To Conduct Fire Department Background oral interviews
4.3 Discussion of two firefighter/paramedic candidates
A motion was made by Commissioner Claussen and seconded by Commissioner Busse to go into Closed Session at 3:25
pm.
Motion Unanimously Approved
Police Chief Michael Eterno and Deputy Police Chief Joseph Garris excused themselves before the Board entered the
Closed Session.

Staff Present: Deputy Fire Chief Thomas Wang, Battalion Chief Michael Vena
A motion was made by Commissioner Claussen and seconded by Commissioner Busse to return to Open Session at 8:05
pm.
Motion Unanimously Approved
The Board returned to Open Session at 8:05 pm.

5 VOTE TO KEEP OR REMOVE TWO FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC CANDIDATES FROM PROCESS BASED
ON BACKGROND FINDINGS
A motion was made by Commissioner Claussen and seconded by Commissioner Busse to remove Candidate
A from the process and to approve Candidate B to proceed in the hiring process.
Motion Unanimously Approved
6 ADJOURNMENT - With no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Claussen and seconded
by Commissioner Busse to adjourn the meeting at 8:09 pm.
